Leading spectral moments for easy computation of pressure effects on rotational lines

open access: yes, 2020
International audienceExplicit classical‐limit formulae for two leading spectral moments characterizing the anisotropy of the interaction potential are derived for fast collisions of linear rotators in the binary regime.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Unguarded Moments. Spectral spaces of the unsuspecting mind

open access: yes, 2018
Marcel Proust’s meditation as he picked over the crumbs of a long-eaten madeleine biscuit has inspired and informed several areas of inquiry into (the uncertain science of) memory and recall. The Proust-effect, defined by Cretien van Campen (2014) as ‘an

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

Spectral Density Bandwidth Choice and Prewhitening in the Generalized Method of Moments Estimators for the Asset Pricing Model [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper investigates the performances of GMM estimates using kernel methods with and without prewhitening and the VARHAC method in a representative agent exchange economy.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Spectral Moments Versus Bark Cepstrum Classification of Children’s Voiceless Stops

open access: yes, 2008
Spectral moments have been shown to be effective in deriving acoustic features for classifying voiceless stop release bursts [K. Forrest, G. Weismer, P. Milenkovic, & R.N. Dougall, J. Acoust. Soc. Am, 84(1), 115-123 (1988)].

Spectral reconstruction of Euclidean correlator moments in lattice QCD

open access: yes, 2023
A novel application of lattice QCD spectral reconstruction is presented, in which euclidean correlation function data in a fixed time range are used to infer values outside the range, enabling a model-independent investigation of the asymptotic large ...
