On the Planarity of Heterocyclic Bay‐Substituted Perylenediimides: Insight into the Fluorescent Photoinduced Electron Transfer Sensing Framework

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
Near‐infrared fluorescent pH indicators based on perylenediimide were constructed in a modular receptor–spacer–fluorophore–spacer–receptor format with heterocyclic amino moieties at the bay positions. Counterintuitively, the dibrominated intermediate with two heavy atoms is more emissive than the heterocyclic compounds.

Extended Bloch theorem for topological lattice models with open boundaries

open access: yes, 2019
While the Bloch spectrum of translationally invariant noninteracting lattice models is trivially obtained by a Fourier transformation, diagonalizing the same problem in the presence of open boundary conditions is typically only possible numerically or in

Genomic Insights Into Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Acquired Azithromycin Resistance Genes in Salmonella Strains Worldwide

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Azithromycin has been used for clinical invasive infections caused by fluoroquinolone‐ and third‐generation cephalosporin‐resistant Salmonella, and mass drug administration with azithromycin has been used to reduce under‐5 mortality in children in some countries.

Comparison of In‐Office and General Anesthesia Biopsies for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in a Public Healthcare System

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background We compared treatment delays, costs, and management impact between oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) patients undergoing in‐office versus general anesthesia panendoscopy‐guided biopsies in two large tertiary centers in a public healthcare system. Methods All OPSCC patients included were treated between 2010 and 2024 with

Perturbative solution of fermionic sign problem in quantum Monte Carlo computations

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials
We have developed a strong-coupling perturbation scheme for a general doped Hubbard model around a particle-hole-symmetric reference system, which is free from the fermionic sign problem.

Safeguarding maternal health against extreme heat in India: A policy analysis of state‐level heat action plans

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study identifies and characterizes policy measures across Indian states to protect pregnant and lactating women from extreme heat exposure through a thematic analysis of state‐level heat and climate adaptation plans. Methods Using content analysis, we systematically reviewed publicly available Heat Action Plans (HAPs) (N = 19 ...

White Matter Dysfunction and Neurotransmitter Basis Underlying the Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesiNew Medicine, EarlyView.
In the freezing of gait in Parkinson's disease, white matter shows decreased local activity but increased functional connectivity. These distinct dysfunctions are uniquely associated with specific neurotransmitter systems (GABA, dopamine, etc.), mapping a new neurochemical basis for this debilitating symptom. ABSTRACT Freezing of gait (FOG) is a severe

Damage Characteristics Analysis of High-Rise Frame-Core-Tube Building Structures in Soft Soil Under Earthquake Action

open access: yesBuildings
This paper analyzes the seismic performance and damage characteristics of high-rise frame-core-tube structures on soft soil, explicitly incorporating dynamic soil–pile–structure interaction (SSI).

Novel Laboratory Approaches in Heavy Chain Disease With Discordant Immunoglobulin Quantitation: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
In this study, we investigated a rare case of γ‐heavy chain disease (γ‐HCD) through an integrated laboratory approach. Routine protein analyses (serum protein electrophoresis, immunotyping, and serum/urine immunofixation) identified an IgG monoclonal component without detectable light chains.

Noise Characteristics and Shallow Subsurface Structure Detection in Coastal Zones: A Case Study from Dong’ao Island, Zhuhai

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Shallow subsurface structure detection in coastal zones serves as a critical foundation for resource development and engineering construction. However, conventional geophysical methods exhibit significant limitations in land–sea transition zones, where ...
