Spectral nudging in a spectral regional climate model

open access: yesTellus A: Dynamic Meteorology and Oceanography, 2008
Spectral nudging, a dynamic downscaling method, has been used as a suitable approach to force a regional model to adopt prescribed large-scales over the entire domain, not just at the lateral boundaries, while developing realistic detailed regional features consistent with the large-scales.

The Impact of Spectral Nudging on Cloud Simulation with a Regional Atmospheric Model [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Atmospheric and Oceanic Technology, 2006
Abstract The impact of spectral nudging on cloud simulation with a regional atmospheric model was examined. Simulated cloudiness of the Regional Model (REMO) and the Spectrally Nudged REMO (SN-REMO) were intercompared and evaluated with satellite-derived cloudiness from the International Satellite Cloud Climatology Project (ISCCP).

A Maieutic Exploration of Nudging Strategies for Regional Climate Applications Using the WRF Model. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Appl Meteorol Climatol, 2018
The use of nudging in the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) Model to constrain regional climate downscaling simulations is gaining in popularity because it can reduce error and improve consistency with the driving data. While some attention has been

Convection-Permitting Regional Climate Simulations Over Tibetan Plateau: Re-Initialization Versus Spectral Nudging [PDF]

open access: yesClimate Dynamics, 2021
Abstract Two regional climate simulation experiments (spectral nudging and re-initialization) at convection-permitting scale are conducted using the WRF model over the Tibetan Plateau (TP). The surface air temperature (T2m) and the precipitation in summer during 2016–2018 are evaluated against the in-situ station observations and the Global ...

How the meteorological spectral nudging impacts on aerosol radiation clouds interactions?

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract. Meteorological and chemical modelling at the regional scale involve nudging to remain consistent with large-scale meteorology and meteo-chemical coupling to properly consider the interactions between aerosols, clouds and radiations. Both types of process can change meteorology, but not for the same reasons and not necessarily in the same way.

Sensitivity of simulating Typhoon Haiyan (2013) using WRF: the role of cumulus convection, surface flux parameterizations, spectral nudging, and initial and boundary conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Typhoon(TY) Haiyan was one of the most intense and highly destructive tropical cyclones (TCs) to affect the Philippines. As such, it is regarded as a baseline for extreme TC hazards.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.

All‐Optical Reconfigurable Physical Unclonable Function for Sustainable Security

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐optical reconfigurable physical unclonable function (PUF) is demonstrated using plasmonic coupling–induced sintering of optically trapped gold nanoparticles, where Brownian motion serves as a robust entropy source. The resulting optical PUF exhibits high encoding density, strong resistance to modeling attacks, and practical authentication ...

Effects of Meteorology Nudging in Regional Hydroclimatic Simulations of the Eastern Mediterranean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In this study, we investigated the effects of grid and spectral nudging in regional hydroclimatic simulations over the Eastern Mediterranean climate change hot-spot. We performed year-long simulations for the hydrological year October 2001–September 2002

Orbital‐Hybridizable Nanoseed Interphase Enables One‐Minute Rechargeable, Energy‐Dense Anode‐Free Aqueous Zinc Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An orbital‐hybridizable nanoseed (OHNS) interphase induces strong orbital hybridization between Zn and carbon edges, accelerating Zn nucleation while suppressing 2D surface diffusion. This interfacial electronic regulation drives uniform, dense, and (002)‐oriented Zn growth, enabling stable and fast charging behavior in anode‐free aqueous Zn batteries.
