Electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry of chaetoglobosins

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2012
RATIONALEChaetoglobosins are a family of macrocyclic polyketide alkaloids. They possess many similar isomers and exhibit a wide range of biological activities. Thus, there is a need for reliable, fast, and low‐cost analysis of this class of compounds.METHODSA series of seven chaetoglobosins from Chaetomium globosum, including two types of isomers, were

Characterization of naphthenic acids by electrospray ionization high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry mass spectrometry.

Analytical Chemistry, 2003
Electrospray ionization (ESI) high-field asymmetric waveform ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) was combined with quadrupole, time-of-flight, and tandem mass spectrometry to characterize commercial and naturally occurring naphthenic acids (NA) mixtures ...

Surfactants Usable for Electrospray Ionization Mass Spectrometry

Analytical Biochemistry, 2000
Surfactants suppress the electrospray ionization (ESI) of various compounds. Here we demonstrate that fluorinated surfactants such as perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOSA) could be employed for ESI-MS without a significant decrease in sensitivity.

Electrochemical processes in electrospray ionization mass spectrometry

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2000
Editorial Comment Last month we presented, as a Special Feature, a set of five articles that constituted a Commentary on the fundamentals and mechanism of electrospray ionization (ESI). These articles produced some lively discussion among the authors on the role of electrochemistry in ESI.

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry fingerprinting of beer

The Analyst, 2005
After just simple degassing, dilution, pH adjustment and direct flow injection, characteristic fingerprint spectra of beer samples have been obtained by fast (few seconds) electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) analysis in both the negative and positive ion modes.

Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry fingerprinting of propolis

The Analyst, 2004
Crude ethanolic extracts of propolis, a natural resin, have been directly analysed using electrospray ionization mass (ESI-MS) and tandem mass spectrometry (ESI-MS/MS) in the negative ion mode. European, North American and African samples have been analyzed, but emphasis has been given to Brazilian propolis which displays diverse and region-dependent ...

ChemInform Abstract: Electrospray Ionization for Mass Spectrometry of Large Biomolecules

ChemInform, 1989
Electrospray ionization has recently emerged as a powerful technique for producing intact ions in vacuo from large and complex species in solution. To an extent greater than has previously been possible with the more familiar "soft" ionization methods, this technique makes the power and elegance of mass spectrometric analysis applicable to the large ...

Chiral analysis by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry/mass spectrometry. 1. Chiral recognition of 19 common amino acids.

Analytical Chemistry, 2000
Chiral recognition of 19 common amino acids was achieved by investigating the collision-induced dissociation spectra of protonated trimers that were formed from the electrospray ionization of amino acids in the presence of one of the following chiral ...

Determination of micelle mass by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry

Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2005
AbstractBy electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry, micelle solutions of sodium cholate were investigated in detail in the presence and absence of ethanol. The average aggregation number could be evaluated from the spectra acquired under conditions where soft collisions adequate to measure the micelle solution were induced, and the value agreed

Simultaneous analysis of ten phytohormones in Sargassum horneri by high-performance liquid chromatography with electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry.

Journal of Separation Science, 2016
Phytohormones have attracted wide attention due to their important biological functions. However, their detection is still a challenge because of their complex composition, low abundance and diverse sources.
