A Sequential Catalytic Carbonation–Hydrolysis–Diol Dehydrogenation Reaction of Epoxides

open access: yesChemPlusChem, EarlyView.
A sequential/cascade carbonation–hydrolysis–diol dehydrogenation reaction of epoxides is catalyzed by <0.05 mol% of a commercially available ionic liquid and platinum on carbon, to make react CO2 and generate H2. The final catalytic system is achieved after studying the individual steps and finding common reaction conditions. These results open the way

An Atlas of Spectrophotometric Landolt Standard Stars

open access: yes, 2005
We present CCD observations of 102 Landolt standard stars obtained with the R-C spectrograph on the CTIO 1.5 m telescope. Using stellar atmosphere models we have extended the flux points to our six spectrophotometric secondary standards, in both the blue

Highly Stretchable, Robust, and Floatable Broadband Light Absorber of Carbon Nanotubes–Ecoflex Composite on 3D Mogul‐Pattern for Photothermal Conversion

open access: yesEnergy Technology, EarlyView.
This study introduces a novel carbon nanotube‐Ecoflex composite with a 3D mogul pattern for efficient photothermal conversion. This material exhibits exceptional broadband light absorption of 98% in UV‐vis‐NIR, exceptional mechanical and optical durability, and an effective photothermal effect under the solar simulator.

Red Supergiants in the Local Group

open access: yes, 2013
Galaxies in the Local Group span a factor of 15 in metallicity, ranging from the super-solar M31 to the Wolf-Lundmark-Melotte (WLM) galaxy, which is the lowest-metallicity (0.1xZsun) Local Group galaxy currently forming stars.

Infrared‐Treated Diced Dehydrated Onion: Microbiological Shelf Life and Quality Changes

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Blanched, dehydrated, and infrared‐treated diced onions were stored at 25°C, 30°C, and 37°C under 75% humidity. Changes in microbial and quality attributes were studied during the microbiological storage period. ABSTRACT Onion dehydration has been associated with surface contamination.
