Image Slicer Performances from a Demonstrator for the SNAP/JDEM Mission - Part I: Wavelength Accuracy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A well-adapted visible and infrared spectrograph has been developed for the SNAP (SuperNova/Acceleration Probe) experiment proposed for JDEM. The instrument should have a high sensitivity to see faint supernovae but also a good redshift determination better than 0.003(1+z) and a precise spectrophotometry (2%).

Tests of stellar model atmospheres by optical interferometry: VLTI/VINCI limb-darkening measurements of the M4 giant psi phe

open access: yes, 2003
We present K-band interferometric measurements of the limb-darkened intensity profile of the M4 giant star psi Phoenicis obtained with VLTI/VINCI. High-precision squared visibility amplitudes in the second lobe of the visibility function were obtained ...

A Supramolecular Material for Controlling Kiwifruit Bacterial Canker

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The matrine‐5‐methylsalicylic acid salt (MOS) is reported for its excellent antibacterial activity against Pseudomonas syringae pv. actinidiae (Psa), with advanced cell membrane penetration ability and strong affinities for potential targets. Furthermore, a nanosupramolecular delivery system MOS@hydroxypropyl‐beta‐cyclodextrin (HPCD) with improved ...

Magnetite Micro/Nanorobots for Efficient Targeted Alleviation of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Improved reactive oxygen species scavenging capacities of functionalized micro/nanorobots (MNRs) are useful for the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). MNRs can break the harmful bacteria in IBD, thereby eliminating inflammation and restoring the intestinal barrier function.

5-micron photometry of late-type dwarfs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present narrowband-M photometry of nine low-mass dwarfs with spectral types ranging from M2.5 to L0.5. Combining the (L'-M') colours derived from our observations with data from the literature, we find colours consistent with a Rayleigh-Jeans flux ...

The Determination of Methimazole by Infrared Spectrophotometry

open access: yesJournal of AOAC INTERNATIONAL, 1965
Abstract A method for the determination of methimazole by column chromatography and infrared spectrophotometry was subjected to collaborative study in four district laboratories. Although the results were favorable, they were not sufficiently precise nor accurate to recommend the method for adoption.

Spectrophotometry and Infrared Photometry of BL Lacertae [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1969
The absolute spectral-energy distribution of BL Lacertae from 0.315 to 2.2 μ indicates that the optical radiation might be a continuation of the observed radio synchrotron flux. The very steep slope of the spectral-energy distribution suggests that the object is not a quasi-stellar radio source.

Ultrasound‐Responsive Piezoelectric Membrane Promotes Osteoporotic Bone Regeneration via the “Two‐Way Regulation” Bone Homeostasis Strategy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Patients with osteoporosis face a higher risk of bone injury, mainly due to weakened osteogenic differentiation and bone formation, along with increased osteoclast differentiation and bone resorption activity, leading to bone homeostasis imbalance.

A Spitzer IRS Study of Debris Disks Around Planet-Host Stars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Since giant planets scatter planetesimals within a few tidal radii of their orbits, the locations of existing planetesimal belts indicate regions where giant planet formation failed in bygone protostellar disks. Infrared observations of circumstellar dust produced by colliding planetesimals are therefore powerful probes of the formation histories of ...

A new multichannel near infrared spectrophotometry system for functional studies of the brain in adults and neonates.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2005
We have designed a versatile, multi-channel near-infrared spectrophotometry (NIRS) instrument for the purpose of mapping neuronal activation in the neonatal and adult brain in response to motor, tactile, and visual stimulation.
