Active Transport of Macrocycles into Micelles Using Molecular Pumps

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Artificial molecular pumps attached to polymeric micelles were found capable of transporting charged macrocycles into the micelles. The pumps operate with only modestly reduced pumping efficiency as compared to nonmicellar counterparts, indicating that ring‐threading molecular pumps can transport charged solutes into supramolecular assemblies, akin to ...

Investigation of in vivo measurement of cerebral cytochrome-c-oxidase redox changes using near-infrared spectroscopy in patients with orthostatic hypotension [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We have previously used a continuous four wavelength near infrared spectrometer to measure changes in the cerebral concentrations of oxy- (Δ[HbO2] and deoxy- haemoglobin (Δ[HHb]) during head-up tilt in patients with primary autonomic failure.

Photopolymerized Mixed Matrix Membranes for Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photopolymerized membranes with high metal organic framework (MOF)/Pd activated carbon loading enable selective separation of hydrogen‐rich/lean liquid organic hydrogen carriers (LOHCs) under mild operational conditions. The employed fabrication approach yields stratified, multilayer structures with enhanced aromatic/aliphatic (toluene ...

Preparation of Polyester-Based Metal-Cross Linked Polymeric Composites as Novel Materials Resistant to Bacterial Adhesion and Biofilm Formation

open access: yesMolecules, 2011
Bacterial biofilms constitute an extremely resistant form of bacterial colonization with dire health and economical implications. Towards achieving polymeric composites capable of resisting bacterial adhesion and biofilm formation, we prepared five 2,6 ...

A spectroscopic examination of accretion diagnostics for near solar mass stars in IC 348 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
High-resolution optical and moderate-resolution near-infrared spectra were obtained for 40 near solar mass (~2.0-0.5 M⊙) members of the 2-3 Myr old cluster IC 348 in order to examine established accretion diagnostics and the coupling between inner disk ...

Triple Redox–Enabled High‐Entropy Metal–Organic Coordination Driving High‐Performance Aqueous Zinc–Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Four nanomaterials, from binary to high‐entropy (HE), are synthesized using π‐conjugated 1,4‐DHAQ ligand for aqueous zinc–ion batteries. HE‐1,4‐DHAQ shows high specific capacity and cycling stability. In situ and ex situ analyses reveal a stable framework and reversible Zn2+ insertion/extraction.

The quantitative analysis of polyvinylpyrrolidone by infrared spectrophotometry

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, 1971
Abstract The quantitative assay of the binding agent polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) in granules of magnesium carbonate has been shown to be possible. The method is to determine the infrared absorption spectrum of a chloroform extract. Quantities of PVP down to 0·1 mg can be successfully assayed to ±1 % in solution as dilute as 0·1 % w/v.

An Injectable Zwitterionic Hydrogels with Multiple Intermolecular Interactions for Effective Prevention of Abdominal Adhesions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An injectable PSA‐ZnO through multiple intermolecular including hydrogen bonds and electrostatic interactions for effectively prevents abdominal adhesions. The PSA‐ZnO hydrogel demonstrates superior wound healing promotion (≥ 95%) and more effective inhibition of scar formation compared to the commercial 3M dressing (≈80%), and prevents post‐operative ...
