A unique mechanism of catalytic bias regulated by diaphorase‐like subunit in formate dehydrogenase from Rhodobacter aestuarii is revealed. The diaphorase‐like subunit functions act as a biological “voltage rheostat” that controls the slow release of NADH to regulate redox balance, biasing the enzyme's catalytic preference toward CO2 reduction over ...

The ultraviolet excess of quasars 3: The highly polarized quasars PKS 0736+017 and PKS 1510-089 [PDF]
Ultraviolet/optical/infrared spectrophotometry of the highly-polarized quasars (HPQ's) PKS 0736+017 and PKS 1510-089 is analyzed. A blazar continuum component like that in BL Lac objects (e.g.

A Novel Plasma Heme Assay Reveals Disease Severity in Beta‐Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia
ABSTRACT Anemia results from imbalanced hemoglobin or red blood cell production and clearance. Hemolytic anemia, caused by premature red blood cell removal, can be intravascular (in blood) or extravascular (erythrophagocytosis). Hemolysis is common in Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) and Beta‐Thalassemia anemia (β‐thalassemia), the most prevalent inherited ...

Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry of Phenothiazine Derivatives and Analogs
Abstract Ultraviolet spectral data have been tabulated for 41 phenothiazine derivatives and analogs. The general appearance of the spectra is caused by the structure of the tricyclic π-system, whereas spectral shift effects are produced by R2 substituents.

Endo or Exo? The first quantitative kinetic mapping of the nucleophilic reactivity of endo‐ and exo‐glycal compounds highlighted that endo‐glycals are typically 102 times less reactive than their corresponding parent cyclic enol ethers while exo‐glycals are 103 more nucleophilic. This experimental and computational structure–reactivity study highlights
