Rocket Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry of Comet Kohoutek (1973f)

Science, 1974
Observations of Comet Kohoutek (1973f) in the spectral region between 1200 and 3200 angstroms were made from an Aerobee rocket on 5.1 January 1974 universal time. The strongest features observed were the Lyman alpha line of neutral atomic hydrogen at 1216 angstroms and the hydroxyl (OH) bands at 3090 and 3142 angstroms.

Solvents for ultraviolet spectrophotometry

Talanta, 1959
Abstract Mathematical relations are presented showing the effect of light absorption by the solvent on the absorption measurements. A simple modification in the silica-gel adsorption method of purifying iso octane is described that greatly improves the transmittance in the 2000 A region. A procedure of purifying dioxan is also included.

Ion-exchanger ultraviolet spectrophotometry for uranium(VI)

Talanta, 1983
A sensitive method based on solid-phase spectrophotometry has been developed for the microdetermination of uranium(VI) in water samples. Uranium is sorbed on the anion-exchanger QAE-Sephadex from thiocyanate solution and the absorbance of the exchanger is measured at 300 nm.

Unusual Applications of Ultraviolet Spectrophotometry

Applied Spectroscopy, 1952
Ultraviolet spectrophotometry has demonstrated its usefulness in application to problems of identification and qualitative analysis, molecular structure studies, and quantitative analysis, even of multi-component systems. The ability to observe the spectra of ions in solution has been of great usefulness in molecular structure investigations and in the

Infrared and ultraviolet spectrophotometry in residue evaluations

1964
In order to begin this discussion of infrared and ultraviolet spectrophotometry in residue evaluations, it is important to discuss briefly the broad field of spectrophotometry and to define the various regions of the electromagnetic spectrum of interest.
