Spectrophotometry and structural analysis of 5 comets [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We discuss the morphology and spectrophotometry of 5 comets visible in August, 2001. We decompose comae into coma profiles and azimuthally renormalized images, in which general and local features are quantitatively comparable. Comet 19P/Borrelly showed a strong gas fan toward the solar direction, but no detectable gas in the tail.

The Chemical Composition of the 30 Doradus Nebula Derived from VLT Echelle Spectrophotometry [PDF]

open access: yesAstrophys.J. 584 (2003) 735-750, 2002
Echelle spectrophotometry of the 30 Doradus nebula in the LMC is presented. The data consists of VLT UVES observations in the 3100 to 10350 A range. The intensities of 366 emission lines have been measured, including 269 identified permitted lines of H 0, He 0, C 0, C+, N+, N++, O 0, O+, Ne 0, Ne+, S+, S++, Si 0 , Si+, Si++, Ar+, and Mg+.

Gran Telescopio Canarias OSIRIS Transiting Exoplanet Atmospheric Survey: Detection of potassium in XO-2b from narrowband spectrophotometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present Gran Telescopio Canarias (GTC) optical transit narrow-band photometry of the hot-Jupiter exoplanet XO-2b using the OSIRIS instrument. This unique instrument has the capabilities to deliver high cadence narrow-band photometric lightcurves ...

3D Bioprinted Coaxial Testis Model Using Human Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells:A Step Toward Bicompartmental Cytoarchitecture and Functionalization

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The ability of human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) to model developmental processes makes them a promising source for engineering testicular tissues to study in vitro maturation and sperm production. This work describes the first hiPSC‐derived testicular model and shows that it captures functional aspects of prepubertal testicular tissues ...

The Changing Fractions of Type Ia Supernova NUV-Optical Subclasses with Redshift [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
UV and optical photometry of Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) at low redshift have revealed the existence of two distinct color groups, NUV-red and NUV-blue events.

Multiscale Thermal Analysis of Gold Nanostars in 3D Tumor Spheroids: Integrating Cellular‐Level Photothermal Effects and Nanothermometry via X‐Ray Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates nanoscale temperatures generated by photoexcited gold nanostars and their correlation with microscale thermal damage at the cellular level. Using X‐ray absorption spectroscopy and confocal microscopy in 3D cancer spheroids, it assesses localized heating effects and examines tumor cell structure and integrity, offering insights ...

Thermal Lens Spectrophotometry

open access: yesThe Review of Laser Engineering, 1982
Abstract A thermal lens effect induced under laser irradiation is useful for the detection of very small absorptions. This forms the basis of a new technique which is becoming increasingly important as a tool for ultratrace analysis.

Determination Of Sun Protection Factor By Uv-Vis Spectrophotometry

open access: yes, 2016
Background: Sunscreen products contain active ingredients that can absorb, reflect or scatter the sunlight, depending on their nature. We can evaluate the effectiveness of a sunscreen by determining the sun protection factor (SPF).

Absolute Spectrophotometry of Northern Compact Planetary Nebulae

open access: yes, 2005
We present medium-dispersion spectra and narrowband images of six northern compact planetary nebulae (PNe): BoBn 1, DdDm 1, IC 5117, M 1-5, M 1-71, and NGC 6833.
