Effects of Polyvalent Cations on FTIR Spectra of Organic Matter–Cation Associations

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The composition of soil organic matter (SOM) can be characterized by functional groups in the organic matter (OM). The carboxylic acid and carboxylate groups of OM show specific absorption bands in Fourier‐transform infrared (FTIR) spectra. However, cation–OM interactions may affect absorption bands and limit spectral interpretation

A novel sulfur‐containing photoinitiator based on benzophenone derivatives for rapid photopolymerization

open access: yesSmart Molecules, EarlyView.
This study develops a series of unimolecular photoinitiators, BP‐S1‐5, by incorporating hydrogen‐donating groups into a benzophenone framework. This method reduces the reliance on co‐initiators, and enables BP‐S1‐5 with efficient photoinitiation and excellent molding capability.

Tunicate‐Inspired Carboxymethyl Cellulose Hydrogel Filler for Treating Age‐Associated Vocal Fold Atrophy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 5, 2 February 2026.
The pyrogallol‐conjugated carboxymethylcellulose (CMC‐PG) hydrogel is applicated as a filler for the treatment of presbylaryngis, a vocal fold atrophy. CMC‐PG provides a bulking effect to the vocal folds. CMC‐PG is readily injectable and tissue adhesive, enabling sustained release of growth factor over long period.

Mechanisms of Direct Electron Transfer Governed by Redox‐Active Conductive Carrier with Superior Wettability in Anaerobic Biofilms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
A redox‐active conductive carrier of tannic acid‐modified iron‐biochar with superior wettability is demonstrated to regulate direct electron transfer at the anaerobic biofilm‐carrier interface by enhancing the cytochrome c‐mediated pathway. For the first time, integrated evidence from spectroscopy, electrochemical analyses, and metatranscriptomics ...

Potential Application of Linear Programming Method and Solid‐State Fermentation in Improving the Quality of Fish Feed and Profits of Small‐Scale Nile Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) Farming in Tanzania

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 1, February 2026.
ABSTRACT The scarcity of affordable and high‐quality fish feeds limits aquaculture development in many developing countries. The present study assessed the use of linear programming (LP) techniques for formulating Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) diets and solid‐state fermentation (SSF) technology to improve their nutritional value.
