Invitation to Spectropolarimetry
2004Recent research has made clear the exceptional importance of spectropolarimetry in the study of physical conditions in atmospheres and circumstellar envelopes of different kinds of stars, in galactic nuclei and to obtain knowledge about interstellar matter.

Solar spectropolarimetry with THEMIS
EAS Publications Series, 2003We report spectropolarimetric observations with THEMIS telescope multi-lines operating mode (MTR) during the last campaigns. We demonstrate the very favorable performances of THEMIS for investigations of the magnetic field and we report also observations devoted to the measurement of the scattering polarization.

Spectropolarimetry of hot, luminous stars
Astrophysics and Space Science, 1994I review polarimetric observations of presumably single, hot, luminous stars. The stellar types discussed are OB stars, B[e] supergiants, Luminous Blue Variables (LBV), Wolf-Rayet (W-R) stars, and type II supernovae (SN). It is shown that variable, intrinsic polarization is a common phenomenon in that part of the Hertzsprung-Russell (HR) diagram which ...

Precision laser spectropolarimetry
Journal of Russian Laser Research, 1994A procedure for precision measurements of small angle rotation of light polarization plane vs wavelength is described. Analyzed at length is the optical spectropolarimeter configuration, wherein the frequency-dependent instrumental rotations are suppressed to the maximum degree.

Inverse problems in spectropolarimetry
Inverse Problems, 1995Summary: We review recent work on inverse problems in the field of spectropolarimetry. The problems include inversions of temporal, spectral and spatial variations in the degree of polarization to determine various physical properties of the polarized systems under observation.

Infrared spectropolarimetry of sunspots
Astronomische Nachrichten, 2002Recently a number of works have given interesting results on the penumbral fine structure of sunpots (del Toro Iniesta, Bellot Rubio & Collados 2001; Schlichenmaier & Collados 2002), where, for instance, cold supersonic Evershed downflows were observed.

Spectropolarimetry of V1315 Aql
1995Recent years have seen the emergence of a group of nova-like variables which exhibit remarkably similar behaviour. To date, there exist five such well-studied systems: V1315 Aql (Downes et al. 1986; Dhillon, Marsh and Jones 1991), SW Sex (Penning et al.

[17] Spectropolarimetry of antibiotics
1975Publisher Summary Spectropolarimetry encompasses the complementary chiroptical techniques of optical rotatory dispersion (ORD) and circular dichroism (CD) and a more recent method, magnetic circular dichroism (MCD). With antibiotics, the spectra are interpreted by comparison with the spectra of model molecules chosen with great care to contain the ...
