Hyperspectral imaging has a limited ability to remotely sense the onset of beech bark disease

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Although hyperspectral imaging is a powerful remote sensing tool, it proved ineffective in predicting the progression of beech bark disease, except in its later stages, both at the canopy and leaf levels. While some alterations in chlorophyll, water content, and canopy structure may have influenced foliar reflectance at the canopy scale, as suggested ...

Light Transmission in Fog: The Influence of Wavelength on the Extinction Coefficient

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Autonomous driving is based on innovative technologies that have to ensure that vehicles are driven safely. LiDARs are one of the reference sensors for obstacle detection. However, this technology is affected by adverse weather conditions, especially fog.

ECOSTRESS‐derived semi‐arid forest temperature and evapotranspiration estimates demonstrate drought and thinning impacts

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that ECOSTRESS lands surface temperature (LST) data are sensitive to forest thinning, regional drought, and their interaction. Consistent with high‐resolution UAV images, ECOSTRESS LST data indicate thinned forest had significantly greater temperature across years.

A Compact Laboratory Spectro-Goniometer (CLabSpeG) to Assess the BRDF of Materials. Presentation, Calibration and Implementation on Fagus sylvatica L. Leaves

open access: yesSensors, 2007
The design and calibration of a new hyperspectral Compact Laboratory Spectro-Goniometer (CLabSpeG) is presented. CLabSpeG effectively measures the bidirectionalreflectance Factor (BRF) of a sample, using a halogen light source and an AnalyticalSpectral ...

Aerosol Data Sources and Their Roles within PARAGON [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
We briefly but systematically review major sources of aerosol data, emphasizing suites of measurements that seem most likely to contribute to assessments of global aerosol climate forcing. The strengths and limitations of existing satellite, surface, and

Miniature OLEDs Driven by Memristive Switching Electrodes for Compact Display Configuration

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
This study presents an integrated optoelectronic device that utilizes transition metal dichalcogenide–based memristor electrodes for simultaneous switching and driving. The proposed structure enables individual pixel control without the need for peripheral circuitry, thereby offering a simplified architecture and reduced complexity for next‐generation ...
