The Galactic O-Star Spectroscopic Survey (GOSSS). II. Bright Southern Stars [PDF]
We present the second installment of GOSSS, a massive spectroscopic survey of Galactic O stars, based on new homogeneous, high signal-to-noise ratio, R ~ 2500 digital observations from both hemispheres selected from the Galactic O-Star Catalog (GOSC). In

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Optical Spectroscopy of Distant Red Galaxies
We present optical spectroscopic follow-up of a sample of Distant Red Galaxies (DRGs) with K 2.3, in the Hubble Deep Field South, the MS 1054-03 field, and the Chandra Deep Field South. Spectroscopic redshifts were obtained for 15 DRGs. Only 2 out of 15

The IACOB project. V. Spectroscopic parameters of the O-type stars in the modern grid of standards for spectral classification [PDF]
The IACOB and OWN surveys are two ambitious complementary observational projects which have made available a large multi-epoch spectroscopic database of optical high resolution spectra of Galactic massive O-type stars. As a first step in the study of the

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Neutron spectroscopic factors of Ni isotopes from transfer reactions
177 neutron spectroscopic factors for nickel isotopes have been extracted by performing a systematic analysis of the angular distributions measured from (d,p) transfer reactions. A subset of the extracted spectroscopic factors are compared to predictions

Early-type stars in the young open cluster NGC 2244 and in the Mon OB2 association I. The multiplicity of O-type stars [PDF]
Aims. We present the results obtained from a long-term spectroscopic campaign devoted to the multiplicity of O-type stars in the young open cluster NGC2244 and in the Mon OB2 association. Methods.

Evolutionarily divergent DUF4465 domains have a common vitamin B12‐binding function
We show that DUF4465 family proteins, widespread across bacteria from gut microbiomes, hydrothermal vents, and soil, share a common vitamin B12‐binding function. These augmented β‐jellyroll proteins bind vitamin B12 via extended loops. Our findings establish sequence‐diverse DUF4465 proteins as a widespread class of B12‐binding proteins, highlighting ...

The K20 survey. III. Photometric and spectroscopic properties of the sample
The K20 survey is an ESO VLT optical and near-infrared spectroscopic survey aimed at obtaining spectral information and redshifts of a complete sample of about 550 objects to K_s\leq20.0 over two independent fields with a total area of 52 arcmin^2.

Detecting transit signatures of exoplanetary rings using SOAP3.0 [PDF]
CONTEXT. It is theoretically possible for rings to have formed around extrasolar planets in a similar way to that in which they formed around the giant planets in our solar system. However, no such rings have been detected to date. AIMS: We aim to test
