Hot Stars With Cool Companions [PDF]
Young intermediate-mass stars have become high-priority targets for direct-imaging planet searches following the recent discoveries of planets orbiting e.g. HR 8799 and Beta Pictoris.

Spectroscopic binary frequency among CNO stars

Spectroscopic Binaries Among λ Bootis-type Stars [PDF]
AbstractThe small group of λ Bootis stars comprises late B to early F-type stars, with moderate to extreme (up to a factor 100) surface under-abundances of most Fe-peak elements and solar abundances of lighter elements (C, N, O, and S). The main mechanisms responsible for this phenomenon are atmospheric diffusion, meridional mixing, and accretion of ...

DOUBLE-LINED SPECTROSCOPIC BINARY STARS IN THE RAVE SURVEY [PDF]
We devise a new method for the detection of double-lined binary stars in a sample of the Radial Velocity Experiment (RAVE) survey spectra. The method is both tested against extensive simulations based on synthetic spectra and compared to direct visual inspection of all RAVE spectra.

The VLT-FLAMES Tarantula Survey XXII. Multiplicity properties of the B-type stars [PDF]
We investigate the multiplicity properties of 408 B-type stars observed in the 30 Doradus region of the Large Magellanic Cloud with multi-epoch spectroscopy from the VLT-FLAMES Tarantula Survey (VFTS).

SPECTROSCOPIC METALLICITY DETERMINATIONS FOR W UMa-TYPE BINARY STARS [PDF]
This study is an attempt to determine the metallicities of WUMa-type binary stars using spectroscopy. ~4,500 spectra collected at the David Dunlap Observatory were subject to the same Broadening Function processing to determine the combined line strength in the spectral window centered on the MgI triplet (5080-5285A).

Line Broadening in Field Metal-poor Red Giant and Red Horizontal Branch Stars [PDF]
We report 349 radial velocities for 45 metal-poor field red giant and red horizontal branch stars. We have have identified one new spectroscopic binary, HD 4306, and one possible such system, HD 184711.

Search for a Black Hole Binary in Gaia DR3 Astrometric Binary Stars with Spectroscopic Data
We report the discovery of a candidate binary system consisting of a black hole (BH) and a red giant branch star in Gaia DR3. This binary system was discovered from 64,108 binary solutions for which both astrometric and spectroscopic data are available ...

A Radial Velocity Survey of the Cygnus OB2 Association [PDF]
We conducted a radial velocity survey of the Cygnus OB2 Association over a 6 year (1999 - 2005) time interval to search for massive close binaries. During this time we obtained 1139 spectra on 146 OB stars to measure mean systemic radial velocities and ...
