Magnetic and spectroscopic characteristics of ZnMnO system

open access: yesApplied Surface Science, 2005
We report on the observation of room-temperature ferromagnetism in epitaxial (Zn,Mn)O films grown by a pulsed-laser deposition technique using high-density targets. The X-ray, microscopic, spectroscopic and magnetic properties of target material containing 6 at.% of Mn and films were compared.

Near Infrared Spectroscopy of Young Brown Dwarfs in Upper Scorpius [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Spectroscopic follow-up is a pre-requisite for studies of the formation and early evolution of brown dwarfs. Here we present IRTF/SpeX near-infrared spectroscopy of 30 candidate members of the young Upper Scorpius association, selected from our previous ...

Raman‐based label‐free microscopic analysis of the pancreas in living zebrafish larvae

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Forward stimulated Raman scattering (F‐SRS) and epi coherent anti‐Stokes Raman scattering (E‐CARS) allow label‐free discrimination of distinct subcellular structures in the pancreas of living zebrafish larvae. Given the straightforward applicability, we anticipate broad implementation of Raman microscopy in other organs and across various biomedical ...

Mineralogical Characteristics and Color Genesis of Vesuvianite Jade from Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province, China

open access: yesCrystals
A new type of vesuvianite jade has recently been discovered in Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, China. However, a systematic investigation into its mineralogical characteristics and the origin of its color is currently lacking.

Hydrodynamic Effects on Spectroscopic Water Detection in Gasoline Pipe Flow

open access: yesEnergies, 2014
The hydrodynamic effects on spectroscopic water detection were microscopically investigated in a gasoline pipe flow. The effects of the gasoline flow rate and the water content on the water droplet characteristics were investigated experimentally using a

Spectroscopic and lasing characteristics of samarium doped glass fibre [PDF]

open access: yesIEE Proceedings J Optoelectronics, 1990
The fluorescence spectra of trivalent samarium doped glass fibres are described. In silica glass Sm3+ has a narrow fluorescence of 2.2 nm f.w.h.m. at a wavelength of 650 nm. The influence of fluorescence line narrowing and large external electric fields on this line is reported.

In vivo Raman spectroscopic characteristics of different sites of the oral mucosa in healthy volunteers

open access: yesClinical Oral Investigations, 2018
Investigate the biochemistry of in vivo healthy oral tissues through Raman spectroscopy. We aimed to characterize the biochemical features of healthy condition in oral subsites (buccal mucosa, lip, tongue, and gingiva) of healthy subjects.

Exploring the spectroscopic diversity of type Ia supernovae with DRACULA: a machine learning approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The existence of multiple subclasses of type Ia supernovae (SNeIa) has been the subject of great debate in the last decade. One major challenge inevitably met when trying to infer the existence of one or more subclasses is the time consuming, and ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐
