Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

SiCCO and CCCO: accurate equilibrium structures and spectroscopic constants

open access: yes, 2005
Cubic force fields have been calculated for SiCCO and CCCO by means of the coupled cluster variant CCSD(T) and Dunning's cc-pVQZ basis set. There from, a variety of spectroscopic constants (harmonic vibrational wavenumbers, vibration-rotation coupling ...

Ab initio Vibration-Rotation Spectroscopy

open access: yesCHIMIA, 2004
This review surveys recent theoretical work from our group in the area of vibration-rotation spectroscopy. It addresses the computation of anharmonic force fields and spectroscopic constants in the context of rovibrational perturbation theory as

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

A reatividade do estado excitado triplete de 1,3-indanodiona em benzeno Triplet excited state reactivity of 1,3-indandione in benzene solution

open access: yesQuímica Nova, 2007
Rate constants for the quenching of 1,3-indandione (1) triplet by olefins and by hydrogen and electron donors were obtained employing the laser flash photolysis technique in benzene solution.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

A millifluidic calorimeter with InfraRed thermography for the measurement of chemical reaction enthalpy and kinetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The aim of this work is to present an infrared calorimeter for the measurement of the kinetics and the enthalpy of high exothermic chemical reactions. The main idea is to use a millifluidic chip where the channel acts as a chemical reactor.
