Spectrum and Resolvent

2020
This chapter introduces the notion of the spectrum of an operator (possibly unbounded) on a Hilbert space. The theory of the resolvent operator is developed and used to establish basic properties of the spectrum.

The spectrum of ?-resolvable designs with block size four

Journal of Combinatorial Designs, 2001
A design is called \(\alpha\)-resolvable if its blocks can be partitioned into disjoint classes such that each point is on exactly \(\alpha\) blocks of any given class. The authors prove that the necessary arithmetic conditions for the existence of an \(\alpha\)-resolvable design with block size 4 are also sufficient, with the single exception of ...

The first rotationally resolved spectrum of CH4+

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1999
The pulsed-field-ionization (PFI) zero-kinetic-energy (ZEKE) photoelectron spectra of CH4 and CD4 have been recorded in the region 100880–104100 cm−1. From the analysis of the photoelectron spectra the first adiabatic ionization potential of CH4 and CD4 has been determined to be (101773±35) cm−1 and (102210±25) cm−1, respectively.

Vibrationally resolved photoelectron spectrum of ZnBr−

Journal of Molecular Spectroscopy, 2019
Abstract Determination of the vibrational frequency of the ZnBr radical has been elusive, having previously been reported as 220 cm−1 and 318 cm−1 by different investigators. Recently, Burton and Ziurys reported a rotational spectrum of ZnBr from which they were able to estimate a harmonic frequency of 284 cm−1 and an anharmonicity of 1.0 cm−1.

Spectrum and resolvent of a partial integral operator

Applicable Analysis, 2008
We consider the partial integral operator where w(.,. ), K(.,. ,. ), φ are given functions. Norm estimates for the resolvent and bounds for the spectrum are established. Our main tool is the direct integral of Hilbert spaces and recent estimates for norms of the resolvents of compact operators and operators with the compact Hermitian components.

The rotationally resolved electronic spectrum of p-cyanophenol

Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2002
The electronic origin transition of p-cyanophenol (4-hydroxy-benzonitrile) at 35547.46 cm−1 was examined using rotationally resolved LIF spectroscopy. The experimentally determined inertial parameters are reported and compared to the results of ab initio calculations. The S1-lifetime of p-cyanophenol is determined to be 10.6 ± 3 ns, considerably longer

[A new measurement method of time-resolved spectrum].

Guang pu xue yu guang pu fen xi = Guang pu, 2010
A new method for measuring time-resolved spectrum (TRS) is brought forward. Programming with assemble language controlled the micro-control-processor (AT89C51), and a kind of peripheral circuit constituted the drive circuit, which drived the stepping motor to run the monochromator.

High-Speed, Time-Resolved Spectrum of a Lightning Stroke

Science, 1966
The first time-resolved spectrum of a return stroke between the cloud and ground has been obtained with a slitless spectrograph. The time for luminosity to rise from zero to its peak in a section of the channel is 10 microseconds or less, and the intense emission lines are attributed to singly ionized nitrogen atoms.

Spectrum, Resolvent Set and the Krein-Rutman Theorem

1997
In the last two chapters we shall discuss some spectral properties of a (linear) norm bounded operator T in a complex Banach space V; in particular we deal with the case that V is a Banach lattice and the operator T is positive. In the present section we restrict ourselves, however, to the case that V is a Banach space.
