Continuous spectrum, point spectrum and residual spectrum of operator matrices
AbstractLet MC denote a 2×2 upper triangular operator matrix of the form MC=AC0B, which is acting on the sum of Banach spaces X⊕Y or Hilbert spaces H⊕K. In this paper, the sets ⋂C∈B(Y,X)σc(MC),⋂C∈B(K,H)σp(MC) and ⋂C∈B(K,H)σr(MC) are, respectively, characterized completely, where σc(·) denotes the continuous spectrum, σp(·) denotes the point spectrum ...

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Rumour is an old social phenomenon used in politics and other public spaces. It has been studied for only hundred years by sociologists and psychologists by qualitative means. Social media platforms open new opportunities to improve quantitative analyses. We scanned all scientific literature to find relevant features.

For irrational \(\alpha\) the dispersion constant \(D(\alpha)\) is defined as \(\lim\sup_{N\to \infty} Nd_ N\) with \(d_ N=\sup_{x\in[0,1]}\min_{1\leq n\leq N}| x-\{n\alpha\}|\) with \(\{ x\}\) being the fractional part of \(x\). It was shown by \textit{H. Niederreiter} [Topics in Classical Number Theory, Colloq. Math. Soc.

Spondyloarthritis (SpA) comprises a group of related diseases which share similar pathogenesis and clinical manifestations. Although the occurrence of SpA spectrum disorders has been known for some time, it was only in the latter half of the twentieth century that the concept of SpA was formally defined.

Angiotensin II (AngII), a neuropeptide, interacts with amyloid‐β (Aβ), a key player in Alzheimer's disease. This study reveals that AngII reduces Aβ aggregation and membrane disruption in vitro. Biophysical assays and molecular modeling suggest AngII binds disordered Aβ forms, potentially modulating early amyloidogenic events and contributing to ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

The spectrum of independence [PDF]
We study the set of possible sizes of maximal independent families to which we refer as spectrum of independence and denote Spec (mif). Here mif abbreviates maximal independent family. We show that:1.whenever κ 1< ⋯ < κ n are finitely many regular uncountable cardinals, it is consistent that {κi}i=1n⊆Spec(mif);2.whenever κ has uncountable ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
