A Refutation of Spectrum Arguments for Nontransitive Betterness
AbstractThis short paper states a new objection against “spectrum arguments” for nontransitive betterness. It is shown that defenders of such arguments must reject one of two very plausible principles.

The Molecular Species Identified by GS-MS in Sol-Gel Process. Operational Mass Spectrum Libraries
The aim of this article is the presentation of new user mass spectral libraries created based on unambiguous assigning of the mass spectra of the tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) oligomers and transesters obtained in the sol-gel process.

Spectrum Aliasing Does not Occur in Case of Ideal Signal Sampling [PDF]
A new model of ideal signal sampling operation is developed in this paper. This model does not use the Dirac comb in an analytical description of sampled signals in the continuous time domain. Instead, it utilizes functions of a continuous time variable,

Arbitrarily Oriented Phase Randomization of Design Ground Motions by Continuous Wavelets
For dynamic analysis in seismic design, selection of input ground motions is of huge importance. In the presented scheme, complex Continuous Wavelet Transform (CWT) is utilized to simulate stochastic ground motions from historical records of earthquakes ...

Negative index materials: at the frontier of macroscopic electromagnetism
The notions of negative refraction and negative index, introduced by V. Veselago more than 50 years ago, have appeared beyond the frontiers of macroscopic electromagnetism and purely formal during 30 years, until the work of J.

Essential spectrum and Weyl asymptotics for discrete Laplacians [PDF]
In this paper, we investigate spectral properties of discrete Laplacians. Our study is based on the Hardy inequality and the use of super-harmonic functions. We recover and improve lower bounds for the bottom of the spectrum and of the essential spectrum.
