Spectrum of plane curves via knot theory [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, 2012
We use topological methods to study various semicontinuity properties of spectra of singular points of plane algebraic curves and of polynomials in two variables at infinity. Using Seifert forms and the Tristram--Levine signatures of links, we reprove (in a slightly weaker version) a result obtained by Steenbrink and Varchenko on semicontinuity of ...

Exponent Spectrum of Lorenz Curves and Its Relation to a System’s Heterogeneity [PDF]

open access: yesEntropy
We analyze the effect of microscopic heterogeneity on the Lorenz curve of macroscopic observables. The Lorenz curve of a response function, being a cumulative and bounded quantity; it is often a more stable function than the corresponding probability ...

Relations between Spectrum Curves of Discrete Sturm-Liouville Problem with Nonlocal Boundary Conditions and Graph Theory. II

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2021
In this paper, relations between discrete Sturm--Liouville problem with nonlocal integral boundary condition characteristics (poles, critical points, spectrum curves) and graphs characteristics (vertices, edges and faces) were found. The previous article

Relations between spectrum curves of discrete Sturm-Liouville problem with nonlocal boundary conditions and graph theory

open access: yesLietuvos Matematikos Rinkinys, 2021
Sturm-Liouville problem with nonlocal boundary conditions arises in many scientific fields such as chemistry, physics, or biology. There could be found some references to graph theory in a discrete Sturm-Liouville problem, especially in investigation of ...

Investigation of spectrum curves for a Sturm-Liouville problem with two-point nonlocal boundary conditions

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2020
The article investigates the Sturm–Liouville problem with one classical and another nonlocal two-point boundary condition. We analyze zeroes, poles and critical points of the characteristic function and how the properties of this function depend on ...

Experimental study of the parameter effects on the flow and noise characteristics for a contra-rotating axial fan

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics, 2023
Introduction: In the present paper, experiments for a contra-rotating axial fan have been conducted to investigate the influences of the fan parameters including axial distance, blade number, blade pattern and blade thickness on the performance and noise

The Application of the NMR Logging in the Reservoir Evaluation in Western Sichuan Gas Field

open access: yesCejing jishu, 2023
The reservoir of Leikoupo formation in western Sichuan gas field is formed in the sedimentary environment of tidal flat facies. At present, it has entered development stage and the most of drilled gas wells are highly-deviated.

Urban Seismic Risk Assessment and Damage Estimation: Case of Rif Buildings (North of Morocco)

open access: yesBuildings, 2022
The interest in assessing seismic risk in earthquake-prone regions in Morocco has been increasing over recent decades, to a large extent due to the substantial amount of damage imposed by recent events and because the population in these regions has ...

Mössbauer spectrum curve fitting with a personal computer [PDF]

open access: yesNuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1990
Abstract A method to perform Mossbauer spectrum curve fitting with a personal computer is presented. A modified Gauss-Newton algorithm for the least squares determination of nonlinear parameters is used in order to write computer codes that perform satisfactorily within the small memory sizes of personal computers.
