On the Spectrum of the Local Mirror Curve.

open access: yes, 2020
We address the spectral problem of the formally normal quantum mechanical operator associated with the quantised mirror curve of the toric (almost) del Pezzo Calabi-Yau threefold called local in the case of complex values of Planck's constant. We show that the problem can be approached in terms of the Bethe ansatz-type highly transcendental equations.

Topological Edge Spectrum Along Curved Interfaces

open access: yesInternational Mathematics Research Notices
Abstract We prove that if the boundary of a topological insulator divides the plane into two regions, each containing arbitrarily large balls, then it acts as a conductor. Conversely, we construct a counterexample to show that topological insulators that fit within strips do not need to admit conducting boundary modes. This constitutes a

Metastatic niche shaped by host factors influences disseminated cancer cell fate

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Metastasis is shaped not only by cancer cells but also by the environments they encounter. This review explores how factors such as aging, diet, the microbiome, lifestyle, and environmental exposures remodel organ‐specific niches in the lung, liver, bone, and brain, influencing where metastatic cells survive, remain dormant, or grow, and ultimately ...

Features of correlation curves of the Siberian Radioheliograph

open access: yesSolar-Terrestrial Physics
Correlation curves of the multi-frequency Siberian Radioheliograph (SRH) provide a sensitive indication and demonstrative representation of monitoring the microwave life of the active Sun.

Band Gap of the Spectrum in Periodically Curved Quantum Waveguides

open access: yesJournal of Differential Equations, 1998
The author considers the spectrum of the Dirichlet problem in a periodically curved strip with constant width. Using the Floquet-Bloch realization of the problem he obtains asymptotic estimates for the spectral gaps.

Invisible but not inaccessible—Revealing transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins with solution NMR and complementary methods

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Transient oligomers formed by intrinsically disordered proteins may be ‘invisible’ to direct detection yet remain accessible to solution NMR through equilibrium‐exchange measurements and pressure‐jump experiments. Complementary methods report on mass, stoichiometry, selected distance distributions, morphology, and internal packing.

MODELS OF FATIGUE LIFE CURVES IN FATIGUE LIFE CALCULATIONS OF MACHINE ELEMENTS – EXAMPLES OF RESEARCH [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Journal of Silesian University of Technology. Series Transport, 2014
In the paper there was attempted to analyse models of fatigue life curves possible to apply in calculations of fatigue life of machine elements. The analysis was limited to fatigue life curves in stress approach enabling cyclic stresses from the range of

Spectrum-consistent ag-based fragility curves.

open access: yesReliab. Eng. Syst. Saf.
In the field of earthquake engineering, Fragility Curves (FCs) have become indispensable for regional risk assessments due to their efficacy in estimating the failure probabilities of diverse structures, including buildings and bridges, based on certain intensity measures.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.
