Spectrum and energy efficient cognitive relay for spectrum leasing

2012 IEEE International Conference on Communication Systems (ICCS), 2012
In this paper, we propose a spectrum and energy efficient spectrum leasing scheme based on a two-path successive relay technique. The proposed scheme aims to minimize the primary energy consumption to support a primary target rate while maximizing the secondary rate under an energy budget.

Efficient Use of the Spectrum

IEEE Microwave Magazine, 2012
Demand for efficient operation of radio frequency (RF) devices with limited resources, such as energy and frequency spectrum, is increasing as a variety of wireless applications quickly become more popular. Cognitive radio (CR), which can sense a radio environment and use an unoccupied spectrum, is thought to be a drastic solution for problems such as ...

Spectrum Metrics and Spectrum Efficiency: Proposed Definitions

IEEE Transactions on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 1977
A spectrum metric-a unit of measure of spectrum-space use-is defined and used to define a measure of spectrum efficiency as the ratio of communications output to spectrum-space input. It is shown that this efficiency measure is easier to compute than another candidate, and gives the same relative result.

Challenges and Considerations in Defining Spectrum Efficiency

Proceedings of the IEEE, 2014
Since spectrum is a precious commodity, knowing how efficiently different technologies and applications use it allows users and operators to make the best decisions on what wireless technology to deploy and in what configuration. Understanding spectrum efficiency can also assist policy makers better decide on how to most effectively allocate spectrum ...

An energy-efficient cooperative spectrum sensing

2015 IEEE International Black Sea Conference on Communications and Networking (BlackSeaCom), 2015
In this work, the energy consumption in the cooperative spectrum sensing is analysed. The analysis also covers the detection quality assessment and the definition of the energy efficiency (EE) metric. It is shown how cooperation among the sensing nodes affects the EE and how relaying of sensing information and node selection influences the detection ...

Spectrum efficiency of spread spectrum systems

IEEE 1988 International Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility, 2003
The capabilities of direct-sequence pseudo-noise (DSPN) systems are compared with those of both conventional and trunked LMR systems. It is shown that not only do DSPN systems provide the same advantages over conventional systems as trunking systems, but also they provide many additional features as well without loss of spectrum conservation. >

Efficient Skin Spectrum Coding Method

2019 IEEE EMBS International Conference on Biomedical & Health Informatics (BHI), 2019
We present an efficient lossless coding method for skin spectral data. In contrast to the conventional prefix-based coding methods, the proposed algorithm utilizes the unique property of the spectral data which changes monotonically with wavelength. The compression ratio of the proposed method alone is similar to those of the previous ones in average ...

Efficient coloring of a large spectrum of graphs

Proceedings of the 35th annual conference on Design automation conference - DAC '98, 1998
We have developed a new algorithm and software for graph coloring by systematically combining several algorithm and software development ideas that had crucial impact an the algorithm's performance. The algorithm explores the divide-and-conquer paradigm, global search for constrained independent sets using a computationally inexpensive objective ...
