Technique for validating remote sensing products of water quality [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Remote sensing of water quality is initiated as an additional part of the on going activities of the EAGLE2006 project. Within this context intensive in-situ and airborne measurements campaigns were carried out over the Wolderwijd and Veluwemeer ...

Spectrum sensing optimisation for dynamic primary user signal [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a multi-layer spectrum sensing optimisation algorithm to maximise sensing efficiency by computing the optimal sensing and transmission durations for a fast changing, dynamic primary user.

Identification of a Shiga toxin A‐derived peptide internalized into Gb3 receptor‐bearing cells via interaction with the Shiga toxin B subunit

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The process of internalization of the Shiga toxin A subunit via formation of a complex with the Shiga toxin B subunit, which specifically binds to the Gb3 receptor. The peptide is designed to act as a carrier of drugs into cancer cells. Here, we explored the potential of peptides derived from the catalytic A subunit of Shiga toxin (STxA) to be drug ...

Hybrid multi-channel cooperative spectrum sensing to satisfy channel target [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Spectrum sensing of multiple primary user channels is a crucial function in cognitive radio networks. In this paper we propose an optimal, sensing resource allocation algorithm for multi-channel cooperative spectrum sensing.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Cognitive Radio for Broadband Access in Rural Africa and other Developing Countries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis examines how Cognitive Radio (CR) can impact broadband access in rural Africa and other developing countries. We investigate how CR through dynamic spectrum access facilitates the efficient use of underutilized spectrum (white spaces) in ...
