Cochlear implants and bacterial meningitis: A speech recognition study in paired samples
Introduction: Cochlear implants may guarantee sound perception and the ability to detect speech at a close-to-normal hearing intensity; however, differences have been observed among implantees in terms of performance on discrimination tests and speech ...

Use of the CID W22 as a South African English speech discrimination test [PDF]
South Africa currently lacks a pre-recorded South African English (SAE) specific speech discrimination test. In the absence of such a test, the SAE speaker recording (Tygerberg recording) of the American (USA) English (AE) CID W22 wordlists - in combination with the original American CID W22 normative data - is the most widely used alternative.

A Hybrid Approach for Speech Enhancement Using MoG Model and Neural Network Phoneme Classifier [PDF]
In this paper we present a single-microphone speech enhancement algorithm. A hybrid approach is proposed merging the generative mixture of Gaussians (MoG) model and the discriminative neural network (NN). The proposed algorithm is executed in two phases, the training phase, which does not recur, and the test phase.
