Emergence of a universal limiting speed
We display several examples of how fields with different limiting velocities (the "speed of light") at a high energy scale can nevertheless have a common limiting velocity at low energies due to the effects of interactions. We evaluate the interplay of the velocities through the self-energy diagrams and use the renormalization group to evolve the ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Fréchet distance with speed limits
The authors study generalizations of the Fréchet distance and algorithms for its calculation. This distance can be used to measure the similarity of two polygonal curves, and is defined as the maximum distance of two points which traverse the length of the two curves as constant speeds.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Quantum speed limits for change of basis
Quantum speed limits provide ultimate bounds on the time required to transform one quantum state into another. Here, we introduce a novel notion of quantum speed limits for collections of quantum states, investigating the time for converting a basis of ...

Introduction: Road traffic is a major source of nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emissions. While evaluations of speed limit reductions in high-speed contexts have shown reductions in NO2, results in urban, low-speed environments remain inconclusive due to factors

Speed limits in general relativity [PDF]
Some standard results on the initial value problem of general relativity in matter are reviewed. These results are applied first to show that in a well defined sense, finite perturbations in the gravitational field travel no faster than light, and second to show that it is impossible to construct a warp drive as considered by Alcubierre (1994) in the ...

Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Generalized geometric speed limits for quantum observables
Leveraging quantum information geometry, we derive generalized quantum speed limits on the rate of change of the expectation values of observables. These bounds subsume and, for Hilbert space dimension ≥3, tighten existing bounds—in some cases by an ...
