Properties of Composite Membranes of SPEEK and Nanodiamond
MRS Proceedings, 2012AbstractThe manufacture of composite materials can improve the properties of proton-conducting polymers as membranes in PEM fuel cells. We have investigated composite membranes obtained by dispersion of nanodiamond particles in a sulfonated PolyEtherEtherKetone (SPEEK) matrix. SPEEK is a major proton-conducting aromatic polymer.

All-SPEEK flexible supercapacitor exploiting laser-induced graphenization
2D Materials, 2017Flexible supercapacitors have emerged as one of the more promising and efficient space-saving energy storage system for portable and wearable electronics. Laser-induced graphenization has been recently proposed as a powerful and scalable method to directly convert a polymeric substrate into a 3D network of few layer graphene as high-performance ...

Hydration Behaviour of Sufonated Polyetheretherketone (SPEEK) Membranes
Key Engineering Materials, 2018Polymer electrolyte membranes (PEM) have a potential to become power sources in automotive industry and other household applications. PEM such as sulfonated polyetheretherketone (SPEEK) have acceptable operating temperature range but proton conductivity is dependent on amount of sulfonic groups attached to the polymer backbone (degree of sulfonation ...

SPEEK-based Composite Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells
MRS Proceedings, 2008AbstractSulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK)-based composite membranes doped with 23 and 50 wt% of hydrated tin oxide (SnO2·nH2O) were prepared and characterized for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) applications . The composite membranes were characterized in terms of ion exchange capacity (IEC), tensile tests, water uptake measurements ...

The choice of polyelectrolyte in the catalyst layer is an important consideration in the formation and efficacy of the triple phase boundary. It also influences the stability of the electrolyte/electrode interface for long term fuel cell performance. The polyelectrolyte composition in the electrode has to be optimum for higher Pt utilization and hence

Hydrophilic SPEEK/PES composite membrane for pervaporation desalination
Separation and Purification Technology, 2020Abstract Ion-exchange polymer SPEEK has been used as membrane material in proton exchange membranes and microfiltration/ultrafiltration /nanofiltration membranes. In the present study, SPEEK was synthesized by sulfonating of PEEK, afterward the SPEEKs were applied to prepare dense SPEEK/PES composite membranes for pervaporative desalination ...

SPEEK/Matrimid blend membranes for CO2 separation
Journal of Membrane Science, 2011The miscibility and gas separation performance of Matrimid and sulfonated aromatic poly(ether ether ketone) (S-PEEK) blend membranes prepared by solution casting method were studied. A S-PEEK polymer with fixed degree of sulfonation was used for membrane synthesis.

Biofilm behavior on sulfonated poly(ether-ether-ketone) (sPEEK)
Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2017Poly(ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK) has also shown to be very attractive for incorporating therapeutic compounds thanks to a sulfonation process which modifies the material structure resulting in a sulfonated-PEEK (sPEEK). Concerning biomedical applications, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different sulfonation degree of sPEEK ...

Amine Grafted Silica/SPEEK Nanocomposites as Proton Exchange Membranes
The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010This work presents the elaboration of porous silica nanospheres, eventually amine functionalized, which are used as the inorganic filler in mixed matrix silica/SPEEK membranes. The surface of the silica nanoparticles is modified by grafting (3-aminopropyl)dimethylethoxysilane (APDMS).
