SPEEK/Matrimid blend membranes for CO2 separation

Journal of Membrane Science, 2011
The miscibility and gas separation performance of Matrimid and sulfonated aromatic poly(ether ether ketone) (S-PEEK) blend membranes prepared by solution casting method were studied. A S-PEEK polymer with fixed degree of sulfonation was used for membrane synthesis.

Effect of TEOS Additive as Proton Exchange Membrane on SPEEK-PVA and SPEEK-PVA-Boric Acid Blend Membranes

2023

SPEEK-based Composite Membranes for Direct Methanol Fuel Cells

MRS Proceedings, 2008
AbstractSulfonated polyether ether ketone (SPEEK)-based composite membranes doped with 23 and 50 wt% of hydrated tin oxide (SnO2·nH2O) were prepared and characterized for Direct Methanol Fuel Cell (DMFC) applications . The composite membranes were characterized in terms of ion exchange capacity (IEC), tensile tests, water uptake measurements ...

Biofilm behavior on sulfonated poly(ether-ether-ketone) (sPEEK)

Materials Science and Engineering: C, 2017
Poly(ether-ether-ketone) (PEEK) has also shown to be very attractive for incorporating therapeutic compounds thanks to a sulfonation process which modifies the material structure resulting in a sulfonated-PEEK (sPEEK). Concerning biomedical applications, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of different sulfonation degree of sPEEK ...

Amine Grafted Silica/SPEEK Nanocomposites as Proton Exchange Membranes

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2010
This work presents the elaboration of porous silica nanospheres, eventually amine functionalized, which are used as the inorganic filler in mixed matrix silica/SPEEK membranes. The surface of the silica nanoparticles is modified by grafting (3-aminopropyl)dimethylethoxysilane (APDMS).

All-SPEEK flexible supercapacitor exploiting laser-induced graphenization

2D Materials, 2017
Flexible supercapacitors have emerged as one of the more promising and efficient space-saving energy storage system for portable and wearable electronics. Laser-induced graphenization has been recently proposed as a powerful and scalable method to directly convert a polymeric substrate into a 3D network of few layer graphene as high-performance ...

Broadband electric spectroscopy of proton conducting SPEEK membranes

Journal of Membrane Science, 2012
Many papers have focused on the thermal properties, conductivity and fuel cell performance of sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone) (SPEEK) membranes, but the electrical properties have not been extensively studied. In this work, the electric properties of SPEEK electrolytes are studied with broadband electric spectroscopy to elucidate the relationship ...

Assessment of Methanol Crossover Phenomenon of SPEEK/TPA/MCM-41 and SPEEK/TPA/Y-zeolite Composite Membranes for Fuel Cell Application

ECS Transactions, 2009
Development of alternative membranes different from Nafion® membranes is among the approaches being pursued to resolve the methanol crossover problem in the direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC). This paper reports comparison of methanol crossover behavior of SPEEK-based composite membranes prepared for use in the DMFC. The composite membranes were prepared

COMPOSITE NAFION AND sPEEK-PORPHYRIN MEMBRANES

2015
The ability to control the spatial arrangement of porphyrins, through non covalent intermolecular interactions, is very important for accessing advanced functional materials with peculiar properties. Recently, we reported on the ability to easily tune porphyrin J-aggregates optical features using inner channels of Nafion membranes as confined ...
