Sexual selection in a simultaneous hermaphrodite : mate choice and sperm utilization patterns [PDF]
Sexual selection processes, in general, are distinguished in precopulatory and postcopulatory mechanisms. In the animal kingdom, precopulatory mechanisms are related to mate competition and mate choice before the copulation.

The Landscape and Regulation of Histone Crotonylation in Mammalian Gametes and Early Embryos
Histone crotonylation undergoes a genome‐wide transition from broad domains to canonical narrow peaks during minor zygotic genome activation (ZGA). This remodeling is required for proper major ZGA and blastocyst formation. Disruption of this transition by transcriptional inhibition, metabolic perturbation, or HDAC1 dysfunction impairs embryonic ...

The study elucidates that paternal preconception stress can drive offspring hyperresponsivity of the stress system via hypomethylation of a specific DNA region in sperm. This key link is confirmed in a cohort of prospective fathers: the epigenetic alteration is associated with elevated stress hormone levels.

Implications of sperm banking for health-related quality of life up to 1 year after cancer diagnosis [PDF]
Background: Sperm banking is recommended for all men diagnosed with cancer where treatment is associated with risk of longterm gonadatoxicity, to offer the opportunity of fatherhood and improved quality of life.

Ovarian macrophage depletion reverses OHSS resistance in estrildid finches and exacerbates OHSS symptoms in rats. Activating macrophage GPR183 alleviates OHSS by reducing pro‐inflammatory factors, increasing immunomodulatory molecules, remodeling CD44/SDC4‐mediated communication, and restoring immune homeostasis.

Sperm competition and sperm length in shorebirds
We investigated how sperm morphology varies across 16 species of shorebirds in the Scolopacidae, Charadriidae, and Jacanidae. Sperm were significantly longer in nonmonogamous than in socially monogamous species.

Studies on the sperm reservoir of the pig oviduct [PDF]
During sperm transport in the female pig a proportion of spermatozoa are arrested, often for 24 h or more, in a particular segment of the utero-tubal junction (UTJ) and the adjacent tubal isthmus, where a sperm reservoir (SR) is built up.
