The Three Pillars of ATP Production in Mammalian Sperm: Integrating Gluconeogenesis Into the Metabolic Framework

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Mammalian sperm require a large amount of ATP to sustain motility. While glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation (OXPHOS) are established ATP sources, they cannot fully explain motility maintenance under glucose‐deprived conditions.

A Case of Cystic Fibrosis in a Japanese Man With Congenital Bilateral Absence of the Vas Deferens and Recurrent Pancreatitis Caused by a Homozygous c.1210‐11 T > G Variant of the Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator Gene

open access: yesReproductive Medicine and Biology, Volume 25, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT Case We herein report a rare case of a Japanese man diagnosed with cystic fibrosis (CF) following a workup for male infertility and recurrent pancreatitis and discuss the clinical and diagnostic implications in a population wherein CF is exceptionally rare. A 27‐year‐old Japanese man who presented with azoospermia underwent clinical evaluation,

Moringa oleifera Lam. As a Herbal Antioxidant‐Enriched Semen Extender in Cryopreservation: A Critical Review of Its Protective Potential

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
Moringa oleifera extract protects cryopreserved sperm by scavenging reactive oxygen species and reducing oxidative stress. It enhances antioxidant enzyme activity, including superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase, thereby maintaining cellular redox balance.

A Comparative Analysis of Intratesticular Versus Intra‐Epididymal Injections of Clove Essential Oil on Male Dog Sterilization

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 1, January 2026.
This study evaluated clove essential oil as a non‐surgical sterilant in male dogs. Both intratesticular and intra‐epididymal injections significantly reduced sperm concentration, motility and viability, with histological and sonographic evidence of reproductive tissue damage.

Impact of age at first visit on glycolipid metabolism, bone metabolism, and fertility potential in patients with Klinefelter syndrome

open access: yesAndrology, Volume 14, Issue 1, Page 122-131, January 2026.
Abstract Background Classic Klinefelter syndrome (KS) is characterized by one extra X chromosome (47, XXY), leading to hypergonadotropic hypogonadism and higher risk of alterations in glycolipid homeostasis, cardiovascular diseases, and low bone mineral density. Most frequently, KS is diagnosed in adulthood because of infertility.
