SPH Modelling of Hydrodynamic Lubrication along Rough Surfaces

open access: yesLubricants, 2019
Rough and textured surfaces are of paramount importance for lubrication, both in nature and in technology. While surface roughness relevantly influences both friction and wear, artificial surface texturing improves the performance of slider bearings as ...

Ghost SPH for animating water [PDF]

open access: yesACM Transactions on Graphics, 2012
We propose a new ghost fluid approach for free surface and solid boundary conditions in Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH) liquid simulations. Prior methods either suffer from a spurious numerical surface tension artifact or drift away from the mass conservation constraint, and do not capture realistic cohesion of liquid to solids.

Matrix Stiffness Induces Endothelial Network Senescence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Using a 3D human in vitro model that decouples mechanical stress from inflammatory or biochemical signals, matrix stiffening induces a senescence phenotype in endothelial networks. This mechano‐induced senescence activates Notch signaling, and pharmacologic Notch inhibition attenuates this stiffness‐induced senescence.

Decoupled Boundary Handling in SPH

open access: yesThe Visual Computer, 2023
AbstractParticle-based boundary representations are frequently used in smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) due to their simple integration into fluid solvers. Commonly, incompressible fluid solvers estimate the current density and corresponding forces in case the current density exceeds the rest density to push fluid particles apart.

Accelerating Biosensor Discovery: A Computationally‐Driven Pipeline for Microplastics Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A computationally guided pipeline unites molecular simulation, synthetic biology, electrochemical engineering, and machine learning to accelerate biosensor discovery. A Bacillus anthracis carbohydrate‐binding module is used to develop a high‐performance micro‐ and nanoplastics sensor with greatly reduced error and variability.

Effectiveness of intermittent hypoxia on muscle recovery in rats: A systematic review

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This systematic review of animal studies evaluated intermittent hypobaric hypoxia (IHH), cold exposure, and their combinations, with or without exercise, on skeletal muscle recovery. IHH enhanced muscle regeneration, reduced fibrosis, improved contractile force, and maintained oxidative capacity, while cold exposure increased mitochondrial activity but

Multi layer heat conduction analysis using SPH method

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2016
Smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is a particle method for analyzing physical problems. But this method has numerical problems when treating multilayer problems and free surface. In this report we propose equations to treat multilayer heat conduction
