Compositional zoning in sphalerite crystals
American Mineralogist, 2005A series of natural sphalerite samples, characterized by an inhomogeneous (zonal) distribution of Fe, Mn, and Cd atoms substituting for Zn, has been investigated by electron probe micro analysis and X-ray element distribution mapping. The cation distributions are markedly inhomogeneous due to the reciprocal effects of the minor elements on their ...

Kullerud’s method of formation-temperature determination has been applied to the polymetallic sulphide deposits of Sadon in Northern Caucasus, U.S.S.R. The sulphide ore occurs at three places, separated by a few kilometers from each other. They are Sadon, Zgid and Holst. Mineralogical assemblage is sphalerite, galena, pyrite and pyrrhotite. It is found

Metallic Ternary Telluride with Sphalerite Superstructure
Inorganic Chemistry, 2016A new ternary compound with composition Cu5Sn2Te7 has been synthesized using the stoichiometric reaction of Cu, Sn, and Te. The compound crystallizes in C2 space group with unit cell parameters of a = 13.549(2) Å, b = 6.0521(11) Å, c = 9.568(2) Å, and β = 98.121(2)°.

Effects of salinity on xanthate adsorption on sphalerite and bubble–sphalerite interactions
Minerals Engineering, 2015Abstract The adsorption of amyl xanthate on sphalerite in NaCl solutions of different concentrations and in saline water (viz. simulated sea water) and the surface properties of treated minerals were investigated. The interactions between xanthate treated sphalerite particles and air bubbles were examined using induction time measurement, which ...

Sphalerites from western Canada
Economic Geology, 1945A study of 164 samples of sphalerite, of which 122 are from Western Canada, has confirmed the results of other workers in this field, and particularly those of Stoiber.Western Canada, as a metallogenetic province, is high in gold and tin, but is low in gallium, germanium, and vanadium.

An Investigation of Sphalerite
Geologiska Föreningen i Stockholm Förhandlingar, 1958Abstract A polished section of a sphalerite ore specimen from the Sturemalmen sulphide deposit has been analysed for iron content, as well manganese and cadmium content by means of an electron probe micro-analyser. This instrument is capable of analysing surface areas of 1–2 μ2.

Abstract The intensive grinding of sphalerite or sphalerite-pyrite mixtures accelerates the extraction of zinc from sphalerite by the bacteria Thiobacillus ferrooxidans and as a consequence shorten the process of bacterial leaching. This grinding affects the solid-state properties of the sulphides.

Sphalerite/silica interactions: model predictions
International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2002Abstract An experimental study has shown that the sphalerite/silica system can heterocoagulate despite both minerals having a negative zeta-potential [DiFeo et al., 2001]. Using the model of Hogg et al. 1966 for interaction by constant potential, the interaction energy is shown to decrease between particles of like signs when the zeta-potential of ...

New collectors for sphalerite flotation
International Journal of Mineral Processing, 2006Abstract A series of N -arylhydroxamic acids (31) were synthesized and tested as collectors to float sphalerite from a Canadian copper–zinc ore. The compounds were classified into four types namely, N -aryl- C -alkyl, N -aryl- C -aryl, N -aryl- C -aralkyl, and dihydroxamic acids based on the type of substitution.
