Sphenoid Sinus Malignancies

Journal of Craniofacial Surgery, 1995
The sphenoid sinus has traditionally been considered a poorly accessible structure, situated deep in the center of the head and surrounded by vital structures. Aggressive benign and malignant tumors are usually considered to be inoperable because of the proximity of such structures, thus precluding the possibility of total extirpation.

Hemangiomas of the Sphenoid Sinus

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1980
A review of the literature reveals that primary tumors of the sphenoid sinus are rare. No vascular tumors of the sphenoid have been previously reported. Two patients with cavernous hemangiomas of the sphenoid sinus are presented, both of whom died of complications associated with the diagnostic biopsy.

Mucocele of the sphenoidal sinus

min - Minimally Invasive Neurosurgery, 1985
Mucocele of the sphenoidal sinus is a rare lesion often mistaken for a pituitary tumour. A case first misdiagnosed as pituitary tumour is described. Additional radiography including CT findings led to the correct diagnosis. The treatment of sphenoidal mucoceles is surgical. The sublabial trans-septal route has proved to be an excellent approach.

Pneumatization of the sphenoid sinus

Dentomaxillofacial Radiology, 2006
This paper describes a case of pneumatization of the sphenoid sinus in the pterygoid process and greater wing of the sphenoid bone, observed on a panoramic radiograph. Conventional radiographs and computerized tomography in axial and coronal sections confirmed the presence of the pneumatization of these structures.

Hemangiopericytoma of the Sphenoid Sinus

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1981
A 51‐year‐old woman complained of intermittent nasal obstruction and rhinorrhea. Sinus roentgenograms and polytomograms revealed a small mucocele of the right sphenoid sinus. There was no encroachment of the orbital apex or intracranial contents. The mucocele was marsupialized via an external ethmoidectomy, and the scant tissue present inside the sinus

Sphenoid sinus mucoceles

The Laryngoscope, 1973
AbstractMucoceles of the sphenoid or posterior ethmoid sinuses usually behave in a similar manner. Because of the thinness of surrounding bone and the proximity of vital structures, these lesions can expand aggressively at a clinically alarming rate. Presenting symptoms vary but characteristically include headache and ocular disturbance.

Dr. Milton A. Weiner: The patient, a 30-year-old Oriental man, came to the Massachusetts General Hospital with a six-week history of headaches on the left side, pressure sensation over the left orbit, and decreasing vision in both eyes. Physical examination revealed bilateral visual field loss and diminished hearing on the left.

Mucocele of the sphenoid sinus

Pediatric Radiology, 2006
The sphenoid sinus is the least common site of mucocele of all paranasal sinuses. It is very rare in children, especially in those younger than 12 years when pneumatization of the sphenoid sinus is completed. We report a case of histologically proven sphenoidal mucocele in a 5-year-old child.

OSTEITIS OF THE SPHENOID SINUS

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1953
IN A PREVIOUS report 1 an alteration of the frontal sinus wall which occurred frequently in paranasal cancer was discussed. This was observed in 35% of our irradiated patients. The alteration appears on x-ray films as blurring, demineralization, and/or condensation of the upper and posterior wall of the sinus.

Sphenoid Sinus Pneumocele

Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1984
To the Editor.—We were surprised to read in the NovemberArchivesthat Som et al1were unable to find any previously reported cases of pneumocele of the sphenoid sinus. We were also surprised that they did not mention pneumocele of the frontal sinus, a condition that was reviewed as a well-recognized entity many years ago.2 A patient with pneumocele of ...
