Particle size measurement: the equivalent spherical diameter

Proceedings of the Royal Society of London. A. Mathematical and Physical Sciences, 1988
Abstract In particle size analysis, it is commonplace to analyse data for anisodiametric particles as if the particles were spheres. Expressions are given herein for the equivalent spherical diameters (ESD) for discs, rods and the more general oblate and prolate spheroids.

An improved spherical dose equivalent neutron detector

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1968
Abstract Improvements have been made to the spherical neutron detector developed earlier. The scintillation detector used in the earlier spherical moderator assembly has been replaced by a small spherical proportional counter, filled with 3 He gas, and this improves the gamma rejection properties, particularly at the higher gamma energies ( E γ ...

Spherical Space Forms — Homotopy Types and Self-equivalences

2003
Let Q 4m be a generalized quaternion group and X (n) an n-dimensional CW-complex with the homotopy type of an n-sphere. We compute the number of distinct homotopy types of spherical space forms with respect to all Q 4m-actions on all CW-complexes X (4n − 1) and deduce an existence of finite space forms given by some free cellular Q 4m-actions on Q CW ...

Standard decomposition of the product of spherical tensor equivalent operators

Physics Letters A, 1991
Abstract A method is proposed to express a product of SO(3)-tensor equivalents in terms of an operator basis which comprises all the equivalents, both diagonal and non-diagonal in angular momentum, multiplied by powers of the number-of-spins scalar n =2 j .

Quasiconformal equivalence of spherical CR manifolds

1994
Summary: In this paper some basic existence questions about quasiconformal mappings between spherical CR manifolds are considered. A spherical CR manifold is locally modeled on the Heisenberg group. The manifolds we consider are actually quotients of the three-dimensional Heisenberg group by cyclic groups of automorphisms.
