Spherical harmonic analysis and Fourier transformation

Studia Geophysica et Geodaetica, 1986
The paper deals with the computation of spherical harmonic coefficients from surface measurements of the magnetic or gravity field of the Earth when the measurements are distributed regularly. The Fourier representation of associated Legendre functions which this procedure makes use of, then enables the harmonic analysis to be transformed to Fourier ...

Harmonic Analysis on Spherical h-harmonics and Dunkl Transforms

2016
The thesis consists of two closely related parts: (i) Cesaro summability of the spherical h-harmonic expansions on the unit sphere, and (ii) Bochner-Riesz summability of the inverse Dunkl transforms on d-dimensional real space, both being studied with respect to the weight that is invariant under an Abelian group {±1}^d in Dunkl analysis.

An approach for spherical harmonic analysis of non-smooth data

Computers & Geosciences, 2006
A method is proposed to evaluate the spherical harmonic coefficients of a global or regional, non-smooth, observable dataset sampled on an equiangular grid. The method is based on an integration strategy using new recursion relations. Because a bilinear function is used to interpolate points within the grid cells, this method is suitable for non-smooth

ANALYSIS OF A SPHERICAL HARMONICS EXPANSION MODEL OF PLASMA PHYSICS

Mathematical Models and Methods in Applied Sciences, 2004
A spherical harmonics expansion model arising in plasma and semiconductor physics is analyzed. The model describes the distribution of particles in the position-energy space subject to a (given) electric potential and consists of a parabolic degenerate equation.

Imaging of EEG by spherical harmonic analysis

Journal of Electronics (China), 1996
A new three dimensional imaging method for electroencephalogram(EEG) is suggested. It consists of the solution of an inward spherical harmonic continuation. The principle of the new method is introduced in Section II, then a few numerical simulation tests are shown and the feasibility of the new method is confirmed by the simulation results.

Greens function modified spherical harmonic analysis

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2000
In an effort to develop a model for impulse responses in reverberant spaces, techniques for source radiation modeling were explored. One method of decomposing a source field involves an analysis based on spherical harmonic expansions of the field. Spherical harmonic decomposition is a powerful tool, but it is a mathematical approach which is completely

Spherical Harmonic Analysis of a Model-Generated Climatology

Monthly Weather Review, 1981
Monthly mean fields of 850 mb temperature (T850), 500 mb geopotential height (G500) and sea level pressure (SLP) were generated in the course of a five-year climate simulation run with a global general circulation model. Both the model-generated climatology and an observed climatology were subjected to spherical harmonic analysis, with separate ...

Vector Errors in Spherical Harmonic Analysis of Scalar Data

Geophysical Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society, 2007
Summary It has recently been noticed that spherical harmonic analysis (SHA) of the geomagnetic scalar intensity F gives a synthesized field having large errors in the vertical component near the equator, where the field is predominantly horizontal. It is now shown that this is just one example of a more general ' perpendicular error ' effect; SHA of a ...

Spherical Harmonic Analysis for Spinors on H n (C)

Acta Applicandae Mathematica, 2002
Recent results on the harmonic analysis of spinor fields on the complex hyperbolic space H n (C) are reviewed. We discuss the action of the invariant differential operators on the Poisson transforms, the theory of spherical functions and the spherical transform.
