Metrics with four conic singularities and spherical quadrilaterals [PDF]
A spherical quadrilateral is a bordered surface homeomorphic to a closed disk, with four distinguished boundary points called corners, equipped with a Riemannian metric of constant curvature 1, except at the corners, and such that the boundary arcs ...

On the Korányi spherical maximal function on Heisenberg groups
AbstractWe prove $$L^p\rightarrow L^q$$ L p → L q estimates for the local maximal operator associated with ...

Bouncing gel balls: impact of soft gels onto rigid surface
After thrown onto a solid substrate, very soft spherical gels bounce repeatedly. Separate rheological measurements suggest that these balls can be treated as nearly elastic.

Braid groups and Kleinian singularities [PDF]
We establish faithfulness of braid group actions generated by twists along an ADE configuration of $2$-spherical objects in a derived category. Our major tool is the Garside structure on braid groups of type ADE.

Existence of a Semiclassical Approximation in Loop Quantum Gravity
We consider a spherical symmetric black hole in the Schwarzschild metric and apply Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization to determine the energy levels. The canonical partition function is then computed and we show that the entropy coincides with the Bekenstein ...

Linear and multilinear spherical maximal functions
In dimensions n [greater than or equal to] 2 we obtain Lp1(Rn) x...x Lpm(Rn) to Lp(Rn) boundedness for the multilinear spherical maximal function in the largest possible open set of indices and we provide counterexamples that indicate the optimality of our results.

Spherical maximal functions and fractal dimensions of dilation sets
abstract: For the spherical mean operators $\scr{A}_t$ in $\Bbb{R}^d$, $d\ge 2$, we consider the maximal functions $M_Ef=\sup_{t\in E}|\scr{A}_t f|$, with dilation sets $E\subset [1,2]$. In this paper we give a surprising characterization of the closed convex sets which can occur as closure of the sharp $L^p$ improving region of $M_E$ for some $E ...

Organoids in pediatric cancer research
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Three dimensional numerical relativity: the evolution of black holes
We report on a new 3D numerical code designed to solve the Einstein equations for general vacuum spacetimes. This code is based on the standard 3+1 approach using cartesian coordinates.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
