Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Boundedness of Commutators Generated by the Rough Fractional Maximal Operator on Variable Exponent Central Morrey Spaces

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, using harmonic analysis tools−including spherical harmonic decomposition of kernels, sharp maximal function estimates, and variable exponent space theory—we investigate the boundedness of the commutator [b,MΩ,β] on variable exponent ...

On the Solution Space of Differentially Rotating Neutron Stars in General Relativity

open access: yes, 2009
A highly accurate, multi-domain spectral code is used in order to construct sequences of general relativistic, differentially rotating neutron stars in axisymmetry and stationarity.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Sonochemical synthesis of gold nanoparticles mediated by potato starch: Its performance in the treatment of esophageal cancer

open access: yesOpen Chemistry
Economically viable and eco-friendly potato starch (PS) was employed to synthesize Au NPs under ultrasound irradiation. PS phytochemicals have the function of a green reductant as well as an efficient stabilizer template to cap and synthesize gold ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Estimation of Maximum Obtainable RBE ‘Turnover-Points’ (LETU) for Accelerated Ions Based on a Nuclear Charge Radius Hypothesis to Obtain Iso-Effective LET and RBE Values

open access: yesBiophysica
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between nuclear charge (Z), atomic mass (A), LET (linear energy transfer for maximal relative biological effectiveness (RBE)) for accelerated ions based on the hypothesis that for each ion,

A Polynomial Based Approach to Extract Fiber Directions from the ODF and its Experimental Validation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
International audienceIn Diffusion MRI, spherical functions are commonly employed to represent the diffusion information. The ODF is an intuitive spherical function since its maxima are aligned with the dominant fiber directions.
