Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

The quantum states for Hydrogen atom: spherical harmonics and the orbitals geometrical representation [PDF]

open access: yesINCAS Bulletin
Our work utilizes the quantum model of the hydrogen atom which is based on the Schrödinger equation with Coulomb potential. Specifically, we concentrate on the angular components of the wave eigenfunctions derived from this model. We consider the quantum

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Hybrid Neural Representations for Spherical Data

open access: yesCoRR
In this paper, we study hybrid neural representations for spherical data, a domain of increasing relevance in scientific research. In particular, our work focuses on weather and climate data as well as comic microwave background (CMB) data. Although previous studies have delved into coordinate-based neural representations for spherical signals, they ...

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Some Connections between the Spherical and Parabolic Bases on the Cone Expressed in terms of the Macdonald Function

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
Computing the matrix elements of the linear operator, which transforms the spherical basis of SO(3,1)-representation space into the hyperbolic basis, very recently, Shilin and Choi (2013) presented an integral formula involving the product of two ...

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Synthesis of Room Impulse Responses for Variable Source Characteristics

open access: yesActa Polytechnica, 2011
Every acoustic source, e.g. a speaker, a musical instrument or a loudspeaker, generally has a frequency dependent characteristic radiation pattern, which is preeminent at higher frequencies.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

An Oceanographer's Guide to GOCE and the Geoid [PDF]

open access: yesOcean Science, 2008
A review is given of the geodetic concepts necessary for oceanographers to make use of satellite gravity data to define the geoid, and to interpret the resulting product.
