Influence of Particle Surface Energy and Sphericity on Filtration Performance Based on FLUENT-EDEM Coupling Simulation

open access: yesAtmosphere
The adhesion of dust particles on the surface of the dust collector tends to cause great resistance to the dust collector and affects the operating efficiency.

Testing the Sphericity of a covariance matrix when the dimension is much larger than the sample size [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper focuses on the prominent sphericity test when the dimension $p$ is much lager than sample size $n$. The classical likelihood ratio test(LRT) is no longer applicable when $p\gg n$.

Simulation of Micron and Submicron Particle Trapping by Single Droplets with Electrostatic Fields

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
Wet electrostatic precipitators have problems such as uneven water distribution and poor economy in applying ultra-clean particulate matter emissions from coal-fired boilers.

Orientation, sphericity and roundness evaluation of particles using alternative 3D representations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sphericity and roundness indices have been used mainly in geology to analyze the shape of particles. In this paper, geometric methods are proposed as an alternative to evaluate the orientation, sphericity and roundness indices of 3D objects.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
