On the sphericity test with large-dimensional observations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, we propose corrections to the likelihood ratio test and John's test for sphericity in large-dimensions. New formulas for the limiting parameters in the CLT for linear spectral statistics of sample covariance matrices with general fourth ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Spherical Regression

open access: yesThe Annals of Statistics, 1986
Let \(S^ p\) be the unit radius sphere in p-dimensional Euclidean space. Consider the following problem in ''spherical regression''. Let \(u_ 1,...,u_ r\) be fixed points in \(S^ p\) and let \(\nu_ 1,...,\nu_ r\) be random points on \(S^ p\), independently distributed such that the density of \(\nu_ i\) is of the form \(g(\nu_ i'Au_ i)\) with respect ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Towards the Phenomenology of QCD-Instanton Induced Particle Production [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
We present a first status report on a broad and systematic study of possible manifestations of QCD-instantons at HERA. Considerable motivation comes from the close analogy between instanton-induced $B+L$ violation in electroweak processes and effects of ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Index of Sphericity

open access: yesCiencia Veterinaria, 2017
El estudio de la geometría ventricular ha despertado cierto interés en los cardiólogos en los últimos años. Es sabido que el corazón patológico ve alterada su anatomía. El uso de técnicas sencillas para evaluar la geometría ventricular permite conocer el
