Simultaneous estimation cementite content and non-contact distance in spheroidal graphite cast iron using electromagnetic sensor

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2022
The cementite is often deposited on spheroidal graphite cast iron materials used in industrial machinery during manufacturing. Since the cementite is extremely hard and brittle, the cast iron may be damaged when the stress is impressed to the cast iron ...

MODELLING AND VALIDATION OF EFFECT OF BINDER TYPE ON FEEDING BEHAVIOUR OF SPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE CAST IRON

International Journal of Cast Metals Research, 2022
In the casting method, it is crucial to properly make the moulding design to produce sound parts. Volumetric change, especially during the solidification of spheroidal graphite cast irons, may show different behaviour compared to steel and aluminium ...

Austempering of spheroidal graphite cast iron

Materials Science, 2004
We study gray spherulitic cast iron, its microstructure, hardness ultimate strength in tension, elongation, and impact toughness as functions of the duration of isothermal austenitizing in the bainite region at 350 and 400°C after austenitizing at 900°C.

Wear resistance of cams made of lamellar and spheroidal graphite cast iron with different surface treatments

Physica Scripta
In this study, the wear resistance of cam specimens made from lamellar graphite cast iron and spheroidal graphite cast iron cam specimens, subjected to different surface treatments such as freckle casting, induction hardening, and CrN coating by the PVD ...

Effect of heat treatment on corrosion behavior of nodular (spheroidal graphite) cast iron using electrochemical tests in biodiesel environments

Materials Today: Proceedings, 2020
In recent years due to environmental issues, have a great demand to search for alternative energy sources. The high demand of fuels in transportation and industrial sectors strengthen the identification of alternative fuel sources.

Spheroidal Graphite Cast Irons (or Ductile Cast Iron)

2018
The main disadvantage of grey cast irons, regarding the mechanical properties, is the notch effect caused by the flakes of graphite. A model proposed to describe the grey cast irons is a steel with cavities filled with graphite. If this lamellar graphite is transformed into spheroidal graphite, mechanical properties will improve.

Solidification macrostructure of spheroidal graphite cast iron

International Journal of Cast Metals Research, 2001
Methods to reveal the macrostructure of spheroidal graphite cast iron (SGI) are not available. This has caused a number of controversies involving the solidification mechanism of this metallic allo...

Effect of texture parameters on the tribological properties of spheroidal graphite cast iron groove-textured surface under sand-containing oil lubrication conditions

Wear, 2019
During the process of fabricating sand cores with a sand-moulding machine, silica sand can become embedded in the sliding guideway, causing serious abrasive wear.
