Journal of Thermal Biology, 2011
Abstract An inverse and unusual relationship was found between preferred temperature and acclimation temperature in the bullseye puffer, Sphoeroides annulatus . The final preferendum temperature (PT) was 26.8 °C. The critical thermal maxima (CTMax) were 37.7, 38.8, 40.0, 40.8 and 41.3 °C where the temperatures of acclimation were 19, 22, 25, 28 and ...

We analysed the effects of salinity on survival, growth and the osmoregulatory capacity (OC) of puffer fish larvae (Sphoeroides annulatus). In experiment 1, we compared the growth of larvae maintained at a constant temperature (28 ± 0.5 °C) under seven salinity levels (5, 12, 19, 26, 33, 35 and 40 psu) over a 28-day period.

The spotted rose snapper (Lutjanus guttatus) and bullseye puffer (Sphoeroides annulatus) are fish species from the tropical Eastern Pacific for which controlled production of larvae and juveniles has been accomplished in recent years. Diverse topics relating to their biology and aquaculture production are currently under study, in particular the ...
