A new species of Harpactea Bristowe, 1939 from Turkey (Araneae: Dysderidae)
A new species of Harpactea Bristowe, 1939, H. alanyana sp. n. is described from southern Turkey. The new species appears closely related to H. osellai Brignoli, 1978. Detailed description and illustrations of the new and related species are provided. The

A SPIDER constructed its web in an angle of my garden, the sides of which were attached by long threads to shrubs at the height of nearly three feet from the gravel path beneath. Being much exposed to the wind, the equinoctial gales of this autumn destroyed the web several times.

I HAVE frequently observed that when a shock of any kind is imparted to the leaves or twigs, to which the web of the garden spider is affixed, the animal shakes violently in the centre of the web, so as to become almost or totally invisible to the eye; this quivering or dancing motion being kept up for many seconds, and then suddenly stopped.

After the spider, Zygiella x-notata Cl. has been enticed to leave the retreat and catch a fly in a web turned upside-down, it takes a relatively long time to return to the retreat. The return-time is divided into periods of active searching and motionlessness.

New fluorescent optical antennas are realized and tested for diverse Optical Wireless Communication (OWC) applications. The fluorescent concentrator slabs, based on different organic fluorophores, convert and convey the digital data conveyed through intensity modulation of incoming light toward a small‐area photodiode.
