I HAD anticipated in my own mind Mrs. Hubbard's suggestion, and only the great pressure on your space prevented my meeting it in my previous letter. In the first place, my recollection is that the spider was of a kind that spins no web; like our own grey hunting spider, familiar in the summer on walls and palings. In the next place no species of spider,

A shrinkage‐resistant hydrogel is developed to confer post‐fabrication shape fidelity. The hydrogel, based on recombinant spider silk protein eADF4(C16)‐RGD and collagen‐I, exhibits tunable mechanical properties and shrink‐resistance in the presence of fibroblasts as well as muscle cells.

First record of some jumping spiders (Arachnida: Araneae: Salticidae) from Pench National Park, Maharashtra State, India [PDF]
Spiders are one of the most familiar and studied groups of arthropods. They are ubiquitous in most terrestrial ecosystems preying on other arthropods as well as their own type. Jumping spiders belong to family Salticidae and constitute the largest family

The biocompatibility of alginate dialdehyde (ADA) and gelatin (GEL) hydrogels cross‐linked with human transglutaminase (hTG) is demonstrated in vivo with a high degree of stability and angiogenic potential. The additional enzymatic cross‐linker hTG and the increased concentration improve stability and angiogenic potential. The X‐ray microscopy (XRM) is

A Bio‐Inspired Perspective on Materials Sustainability
This perspective discusses natural materials as inspiration for sustainable engineering designs and the processing of materials. First, circularity, longevity, parsimony, and activity are presented as essential material paradigms. The perspective then uses many examples of natural and technical materials to introduce principles such as oligo ...

A new approach to the $SL_n$ spider [PDF]
The $SL_n$ spider gives a diagrammatic way to encode the representation category of the quantum group $U_q(sl_n)$. The aim of this paper is to define a new spider that contains the $SL_n$ spider. The new spider is defined by generators and relations, according to fairly simple rules that start with combinatorial data coming from the root system of ...

Protein can undergo liquid–liquid phase separation and liquid‐to‐solid transition to form liquid condensates and solid aggregates. These phase transitions can be influenced by post‐translational modifications, mutations, and various environmental factors.
