Medical Image Compression Based on Variational Autoencoder

open access: yesMathematical Problems in Engineering, Volume 2022, Issue 1, 2022., 2022
With the rapid growth of medical image data, it has become a current research hotspot that how to realize the large amounts of the real‐time upload and storage of medical images with limited network bandwidth and storage space. However, currently, medical image compression technology cannot perform joint optimization of rate (the degree of compression)

AFD and chaotic map‐based integrated approach for ECG compression, steganography and encryption in E‐healthcare paradigm

open access: yesIET Signal Processing, Volume 15, Issue 5, Page 337-351, July 2021., 2021
Abstract The proliferation of tele‐healthcare services at an accelerated rate raises concerns over the management, security and privacy of the patient's confidential data (an individual's personal details and medical biography) during its transmission and storage. To resolve these issues, amalgamation of three fundamental techniques of remote healthcare

Hyperspectral image, video compression using sparse tucker tensor decomposition

open access: yesIET Image Processing, Volume 15, Issue 4, Page 964-973, March 2021., 2021
Abstract Hyperspectral image and videos provide rich spectral information content, which facilitates accurate classification, unmixing, temporal change detection, and so on. However, with the rapid improvements in technology, the data size has increased many folds.

A Metaheuristic Approach to Secure Multimedia Big Data for IoT‐Based Smart City Applications

open access: yesWireless Communications and Mobile Computing, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Media streaming falls into the category of Big Data. Regardless of the video duration, an enormous amount of information is encoded in accordance with standardized algorithms of videos. In the transmission of videos, the intended recipient is allowed to receive a copy of the broadcasted video; however, the adversary also has access to it which poses a ...

ROI coding of volumetric medical images with application to visualisation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper presents region of interest (ROI) coding of volumetric medical images with the region itself being three dimensional. An extension to 3D-SPIHT which allows 3D ROI coding is proposed.

Remote Sensing Image Compression Evaluation Method Based on Neural Network Prediction and Fusion Quality Fidelity

open access: yesMobile Information Systems, Volume 2021, Issue 1, 2021., 2021
Lossy compression can produce false information, such as blockiness, noise, ringing, ghosting, aliasing, and blurring. This paper provides a comprehensive model for optical remote sensing image characteristics based on the block standard deviation’s retention rate (BSV).

SPIHT for generalized multiple description coding [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings 1999 International Conference on Image Processing (Cat. 99CH36348), 2003
We present a simple and efficient scheme for using the Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Trees (SPIHT) image compression algorithm in a generalized multiple description framework. To combat packet loss, controlled amounts of redundancy are added to the original data during the compression process.
