Workflow for Design of Experiments‐Based Modeling of Species Transport and Growth Kinetics in GaN Hydride Vapor Phase Epitaxy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A novel workflow for investigating hydride vapor phase epitaxy for GaN bulk crystal growth is proposed. It combines Design of experiments (DoE) with physical simulations of mass transport and crystal growth kinetics, serving as an intermediate step between DoE and experiments.

Progress on Physiological Mechanisms of Rice Spikelet Degeneration at Different Panicle Positions Caused by Abiotic Stress

open access: yesRice Science
Rice yield is heavily reliant on the number of spikelets per panicle, a factor determined by the processes of spikelet differentiation and degeneration. In rice cultivars with large panicles, spikelet degeneration negates the advantages of large panicle ...

Screening for Spikelet Fertility and Validation of Heat Tolerance in a Large Rice Mutant Population

open access: yesRice Science, 2019
A total of 10 000 M4 individuals in Jao Hom Nil (JHN) mutant population was treated with high temperature (40 °C to 45 °C) during the day time (6 h) from the booting to the harvesting stages, and ambient temperature (33 °C to 35 °C) was used as the ...

Superlubricity and Corrosion Inhibition Properties of Solvate Ionic Liquids in Hybrid Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic–Steel Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Solvate ionic liquids lubrication reduced the coefficient of friction by ∼60% compared to dry sliding, reaching steady‐state values as low as 0.04–0.05. Corrosion weight‐loss measurements in 1 M HCl further demonstrated significant inhibition behavior, with only 100 ppm of [Li(G3)][TFSI] (∼68.5 μL/L) reducing corrosion‐product weight loss by 63 ...

Date palm spikelet in mortar: Testing and modelling to reveal the mechanical performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Date palm residues capabilities in civil engineering are evaluated by combining numerical and experimental approaches. Date palm spikelet originated from Elghers variety is added to mortar as a raw material or after chemical modification.

Non-Destructive Measurement of Rice Spikelet Size Based on Panicle Structure Using Deep Learning Method

open access: yesAgronomy
Rice spikelet size, spikelet length and spikelet width, are very important traits directly related to a rice crop’s yield. The accurate measurement of these parameters is quite significant in research such as breeding, yield evaluation and variety ...

Response of brassinosteroids to nitrogen rates and their regulation on rice spikelet degeneration during meiosis

open access: yesFood and Energy Security, 2020
The plant steroid hormones brassinosteroids (BRs) play pivotal roles in modulating flower and fruit production. Nitrogen (N) is a key factor affecting rice (Oryza sativa L.) production.

Model‐Guided Design of Paper Membrane Architectures for Controlled Flow and Enhanced Diagnostic Sensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Geometrical modifications on nitrocellulose membranes can result in observable differences in signal intensity relative to a reference membrane (top and bottom left). Using two reference experiments, we have developed a theoretical model that can reproduce the experimentally observed flow changes and provide information on membrane parameters, e.g ...

Role of brassinosteroids in rice spikelet differentiation and degeneration under soil-drying during panicle development

open access: yesBMC Plant Biology, 2019
Background Brassinosteroids (BRs) are a new group of plant hormones and play important roles in plant growth and development. However, little information is available if BRs could regulate spikelet development in rice (Oryza sativa L.) especially under ...

Abnormal Spikelet on IR58

open access: yes, 1986
This article 'Abnormal Spikelet on IR58' appeared in the International Rice Research Newsletter series, created by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI). The primary objective of this publication was to expedite communication among scientists concerned with the development of improved technology for rice and for rice based cropping systems ...
