SPIN FLIP CONDUCTANCE OF QUANTUM NANOCONTACTS [PDF]
The theory of nanosize point contacts made of ferromagnetic metals is developed. A general quantum scattering theory is applied to calculate conductance of the nanocontact with domain wall located in the constriction. Exact solution of the electron motion in the potential of the linear domain wall is used as a zero-order approximation.

Spin-Flip Symmetry and Synchronization
Evolutionary Computation, 2002In the context of optimization by evolutionary algorithms (EAs), epistasis, deception, and scaling are well-known examples of problem difficulty characteristics. The presence of one such characteristic in the representation of a search problem indicates a certain type of difficulty the EA is to encounter during its search for globally optimal ...

Field-induced spin-flip and spin-flip transitions in PrGa2
Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 1994Abstract A detailed neutron diffraction study of a single crystal of hexagonal PrGa 2 under an applied field is presented. The field is applied along the easy [100] direction of the hexagonal plane. The compound exhibits several field-induced magnetic structures and, in particular, an uncompensated long period commensurate antiphase structure ...

Spin-flip and non spin-flip excitations in the (7Li,7Be) reaction
Nuclear Physics A, 1992Abstract Spin-flip (ΔS = 1) and non spin-flip (ΔS = 0) excitations were investigated in the (7Li,7Be) reactions on 12C and 28Si at EL = 26 MeV/A and θL = 0° by measuring separately the (7Li,7Beg.s.) and (7Li,7Be0.43MeV) reaction channels with the 7Be-γ coincidence technique.

At the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), polarized protons will be accelerated and stored for spin physics experiments. Two full helical snakes will be used to eliminate the depolarization due to imperfection and intrinsic spin resonances. Since no resonances are crossed in RHIC, the beam polarization remains fixed through acceleration.

Restricted active space spin-flip (RAS-SF) with arbitrary number of spin-flips
Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 2013The restricted active space spin-flip (RAS-SF) approach is a multistate, spin-complete, variational and size consistent method applicable to systems featuring electronic (near-)degeneracies. In contrast to CASSCF it does not involve orbital optimizations and so avoids issues such as root-flipping and state averaging. This also makes RAS-SF calculations

Spin-flip excitations in a schematic model
Physical Review C, 1988Several recent experiments using a proton beam have shown that nuclear-spin excitations in light nuclei appear relatively suppressed at low excitation energy but surprisingly enhanced at higher excitation. We present here a calculation based on energy-weighted sum rules which yields results consistent with spin-flip data in $^{40}\mathrm{Ca}$.

Single-Atom Spin-Flip Spectroscopy
Science, 2004We demonstrate the ability to measure the energy required to flip the spin of single adsorbed atoms. A low-temperature, high–magnetic field scanning tunneling microscope was used to measure the spin excitation spectra of individual manganese atoms adsorbed on Al 2 O 3 islands on a NiAl ...
