Quenching of spin-flip quadrupole transitions

Physical Review C, 1985
An increasing amount of experimental data indicates that spin-flip quadrupole transitions exhibit quenching effects similar to those reported earlier in (p,n) reactions involving l = 0 and l = 1 transitions. We present here two model calculations suggesting that the E2 spin-flip transitions are more affected than their M1 and M3 counterparts by the ...

Quantum spin-flipping by the Faraday mirror

Physical Review A, 2004
The paper gives a thorough analysis of the spin-flipping action induced by the Faraday mirror on any qubit realized by a polarization-encoded single photon. The results of the theory show that the device acts as a nonuniversal NOT gate, in full agreement with quantum mechanical expectations.

A Spin Flip Problem

American Journal of Physics, 1971
We examine the problem of calculating the spin up and spin down amplitudes for a spin 12 particle, initially aligned with respect to a constant magnetic field, and then subjected to a rotation of the field through an arbitrary angle in a finite time. We find that the solutions to the problem are entirely determined by an adiabaticity parameter α which ...

The spin flip laser

Physics Bulletin, 1971
Rapid progress is being made in the development of tunablelasers. Here, wedescribe a new tunable infrared laser, the spin flip Raman (SFR) laser (Patel and Shaw 1970).

Magnetic breakdown with spin flip

Uspekhi Fizicheskih Nauk, 1995
A review is given of the theory of magnetic breakdown with consistent account for the spin degrees of freedom of conduction electrons. An analysis is made of the spectrum of conduction electrons in regions with anomalous approach of the orbits belonging to the different bands.

A Spin‐Flip Effect in FeSn

physica status solidi (b), 1971
AbstractA combined investigation is made of Müssbauer effect and neutron diffraction on powdered samples of FeSn in the temperature range between 4.2 and 400 °K. A spin‐flip effect is found at about 70 °K. Two non‐collinear models of spin ordering are proposed, one above and one below the transition temperature. The magnetic unit cell with a × 2 a ×× 2

Spin-flip Raman laser

Applied Physics A, 1974
The properties of the spin-flip Raman laser (SFR laser) which depend on stimulated Raman scattering from mobile conduction electrons in InSb under an external magnetic field are presented. The essential parameters are derived from a macroscopic treatment of the stimulated Raman effect and the microscopic theory of the scattering cross-section, and are ...
