Gauge-Invariant Decomposition of Nucleon Spin and Its Spin-Off
I introduce a gauge invariant decomposition of the nucleon spin into quark helicity, quark orbital, and gluon contributions. The total quark (and hence the quark orbital) contribution is shown to be measurable through virtual Compton scattering in a ...

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

ABC transporters in CSCs membranes as a novel target for treating tumour relapse
CSCs are responsible for the high rate of recurrence and chemoresistance of different type of cancers. The current antineoplastic agents, able to inhibit bulk replicating cancer cells and radiation treatment, were found inefficacious towards CSCs since ...

Effects of osmotic stress on Listeria monocytogenes ATCC 7644: persistent cells and heat resistance
Persistent bacteria are a microbial subpopulation that, exposed to bactericidal treatment, is killed at a slower rate than the rest of the population they are part of.

The Long-Run Performance of Sponsored and Conventional Spin-Offs [PDF]
Unlike a conventional spin-off, a sponsored spin-off takes place when the subsidiary to be divested sells an equity stake to an outside investor before going public, thereby receiving a substantial capital infusion.

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
