Diffusive versus local spin currents in dynamic spin pumping systems

open access: yes, 2010
Using microscopic theory, we investigate the properties of a spin current driven by magnetization dynamics. In the limit of smooth magnetization texture, the dominant spin current induced by the spin pumping effect is shown to be the diffusive spin ...

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 regulates cell adhesion and membrane protrusive activity of ovarian cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

MODULATION OF THE ELECTRINIC STRUCTURE OF ULTRA-SHORT CARBON NANOTUBES (0,9) DOPED BY ALKALIC METALS

open access: yesКонденсированные среды и межфазные границы, 2017
The main task for modern spintronics is to fi nd materials with high spin polarization that enable spin transport. Carbon nanomaterials are under special focus, including ultra-short carbon nanotubes (us-CNTs) which are thermodynamically stable and have ...

Characterizing a high spin magnetic impurity via Andreev reflection spectroscopy

open access: yes, 2018
The ground state properties of a high spin magnetic impurity and its interaction with an electronic spin are probed via Andreev reflection. We see that through the charge and spin conductance one can effectively estimate the interaction strength, the ...

Frailty Exacerbates Disability in Progressive Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background To evaluate frailty in severe progressive multiple sclerosis (PMS) and to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Methods This prospective, cross‐sectional, multicenter study enrolled a late severe PMS group requiring skilled nursing (n = 53) and an age, sex, and disease duration‐matched control PMS group (n = 53).

Spectra of Collective Excitations and Low-Frequency Asymptotics of Green’s Functions in Uniaxial and Biaxial Ferrimagnetics

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics, 2019
The paper studies the dynamic description of uniaxial and biaxial ferrimagnetics with spin s=1/2 in alternative external field. The nonlinear dynamic equations with sources are obtained, on basis on which low-frequency asymptotics of two-time Green ...

Nonlocal spin Hall effect and spin-orbit interaction in nonmagnetic metals

open access: yes, 2006
Spin Hall effect in a nonlocal spin-injection device is theoretically studied. Using a nonlocal spin-injection technique, a pure spin current is created in a nonmagnetic metal (N).

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.
